I'm sure this should go somewhere else...but wondering if anyone in our group has good movie/link/books about planning a drug-free labor? I really want to read up and plan for one. TIA!

ooh ooh ooh! There is SO much good stuff out there!
When I was pregnant with DD, I read:
Ina May's Guide to Childbirh (LOVE Ina May). ((MY FAVORITE childbirth book))
The Thinking womens guide to birth, Henci Goer?
Pushed, Jennifer Block
The natural pregnancy book, Aviva JIll Romm
Birthing from within, Pam England
I also took Bradley Method childbirth classes, which were very helpful, esp to the hubby.
They have several books;
Natural childbirth the bradley way
Husband-Coached childbirth

After dd's birth, I watched the Business of Being Born, which was very inspiring. Def good to watch if you're interested in natural childbirth.

There are also tons of websites out there!

I have to add that the Ina May was such a great read. The first half of the book is birth stories written by women who have delivered at the Farm. The second half is informational from Ina May about todays interventions and how our bodies are designed for birth. I read the second half of the book first, which really helped commit me to my plan. Then I read the first half, which really inspired me and gave me confidence closer to delivering.

I also loved the movie Orgasmic Birth. Beautiful footage.

Jamie, DW to Jeff, birth and postpartum doula and Hypnobabies instructor.
4 years and 5 IVF cycles in the making, Elliott was born at home in water on 2/2/11.

I'd like to put in a plug for Ina May Gaskin's book on childbirth too. It's wonderful! The best ever!! The Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way (by Susan McCutcheon-Rosegg) I also found really helpful in terms of good, clear information and pictures, although not all women find their techniques equally helpful. I have also been recommended (by a person who has had 3 natural births, one of which she describes as painless) Active Birth : The New Approach to Giving Birth Naturally by Janet Balaskas, but I haven't read it yet. It's sitting on my coffee table, waiting for me.

With my first pregnancy I couldn't afford Hypnobirthing classes, but I did get ahold of the book (HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method: A natural approach to a safe, easier, more comfortable birthing by Marie F. Mongan), and found a lot of the information really helpful and encouraging. I also made a lot of use of the included relaxation CD during my pregnancy, and I think that practice really helped me relax in labor too.

Good luck!
