I am so relieved that I/we made it! My milk went away very early in this pregnancy (10 weeks along or so) and I was currently breastfeeding my 2 yr old. It was hard to keep nursing and it hurt (a lot more than I expect!) but yesterday my colostrum came in. It was a long 20 weeks and I am sooo glad that breastfeeding is relaxing and enjoyable again. And even more importantly, I am so glad that my DD stuck it out when there was no milk and that she likes the colostrum. I am so glad that she didn't wean early due to the pregnancy.

Just thought I'd share.

I remember when that happpened last pregnancy! DS darn near threw a party! It was not easy to stick it out, but DS went on to nurse another year and half after DD was born. Congrats on your nursing success!

congrats! My DS weaned when my colostrom came in. Now I leak when he cries-- but he doesn't want anything to do with it.

I'm so happy for you! I'm praying that DS will take up nursing again.

Yay!

I actually had less discomfort when my milk was gone, since the 1st trimester nipple tenderness eased up about the same time my milk dried up.

Last week I was able to express a few drops of milk for the first time in months. The next day, DS came down with his first ever bout of diarrhea. He was miserable, the diapers were gross, and even though I changed him promptly every time, his bottom was soon so sore that I had to have DH hold him down for changes - and I was really worried that it was the laxative nature of colostrum that was causing it. Fortunately it was a bug that pass in a day and a half.
