Tommorrow I go in for my first ultrasound. I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I know they will do bloodwork, have me pee on a stick, but I'm really nervous about having an internal exam. Is this something that is routine? Do they do a pap or anything like that? I don't remember when what they did when I was pregnant with dd

familybed1.gifnovaxnocirc.gif nut.gifMommy to my amazing 6 yr old dd, we homeschool.gif, and  27 weeks belly.gifpuke.gifand have been sick the whole time so far, grrrrr!!!!!!!

You can refuse an internal exam, I sure did! It is your decision!

In the past, I've had an u/s around 8 weeks and a pelvic/pap around 12 weeks.

No one can make you take your pants off. Just tell them no thanks.

And paps during pregnancy are notiorious for bieng inaccurate. Just wait ten months and get one PP.

For me I have heard way too many stories of "unrelated" paps and misscarriages the next day. Too many coinedences.

Mama to 8 little ones by birth and adoption. S 14, E 12, G 10, C 9, K 7, N 6, R 5, Ch 3 and baby T 9 months

I had a pap when I was like 4dpo and didn't know i was preggo yet. At my practice they dont' generally do them during pregnancy unless you are way overdue for one. Although my midwife just informed me that for anyone who has always had normal paps, they just changed the recommendation to every other year instead of every year (wahoo!)

me, dh and 2 boys = our family (oh and a cat...who is also a male...lol)

Actually, I had an u/s at 7w2d with abdominal and they saw the baby just fine - it depends on the strength/clarity of the u/s machine, but totally possible to be a abdominal one!
