Howdy!

I felt movement FOR SURE this week which was really nice. My belly is growing and I am starting to actually look pregnant. My second midwife appointment is on Tuesday I will be 17 weeks.

Starting to really think about birth plans. Considering a UC waterbirth-or at least a home waterbirth.

How is everyone else?

16w today and I am officially feeling all better. I am so happy! It lasted way longer than I had expected. But it's over! I hope everyone else if feeling better, and if not it must be right around the corner. I am looking very pregnant. But better that than everyone wondering if I'm just fat. I am feeling movement everyday. I am just plain feeling good. I have some life stresses, but I am trying to keep everything in perspective. And school is a week & 1/2 from starting, I'm happy about that too. I'm feeling like it's gonna be a good week.

Im not feeling that good this week. This weekend I have such bad morning sickness I barely left the bed on Sunday. Thankfully my husband was home to take care of our troublemakers. Im feeling marginly better today, Im at least able to keep water and bland food down.
Theres a typhoon about to hit the island soon. They are estimating late today or tomorrow morning. Im praying it doesn't do much damage because I really don't want to deal with the clean up. Last one knocked out power and downed the trees near our house. One landed on top of my husband's car and danged it up pretty well.

Other than that Im trying to get myself in a better mindset. Im not feeling very optimistic about this baby for some reason. I just so tired and sick all I want to do is curl up in a ball and ignore everyone... which of course doesn't work when you have little ones trying to get your attention.

I am dreading the coming week. Student teaching has been loooong and exhausting and I am NOT a fan of my mentor teacher. I just cant wait for this to be over (in December).

I bought some baby clothes on Saturday and it really brightened my day! I found some little brown corduroy shoes with dinosaurs on them at Target that I LOVE!

Hopefully your student teaching gets better. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

My DH had our girls pick out an outfit for the baby. They agreed (yes, a 20 month old and 3 1/2 year old actually agreed on something) on this really cute Monkey outfit. Of course its totally boy so if we have a girl Im going to have to make a frilly skirt to go with it because it would upset the girls not having the baby wear the outfit they picked out for him/her.

That is so cool that your kids can feel involved with the new baby!

Luckily in October I move to student teaching in the high school with the PreAP, AP, IB, GT teacher which is where I wanted to be in the first place. My current mentor teacher doesn't like having "those kids" (gifted kids) in his classes cause they are "too much trouble." Since my masters concentration is gifted and talented education I certainly disagree!

Okimom...so sorry you are still feeling bad. Hope the typhoon doesn't hit!

Wow..what a weekend. I have been with my moms side of the family all weekend. I have not been very close to that side of the family(except for my grandpa and grandma of course)so it was very nice to spend almost all weekend with them and get to know them better. The funeral day was long. 100 family members ate at the church at 12, then the visitation was at 2 and funeral at 3. I had to stand for one hour shaking about 200 peoples hands and I was dripping sweat and bout passed out. I then had to run out of the funeral(400 people were there!!) to throw up. But I made it.I was just so exhausted after being up from 6am-10pm on my feet for three days in a row. And I still have insomnia. Last night I took 2 phenergans finally at 2am and slept til 10am without waking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never do that. NEVER. I didnt even get up to pee!!!!!!! I am so tired today. I had church and then more visits with the family. I went to some yard sales SAT morn and got a boppy billow, 4 baby books, 2 toys, 5 gender neutral sleepers and 4 nice hooded towels for $7. I racked up!!!!! Every saturday I have been getting up and hitting yard sales in hopes of getting some stuff. Its been fun.

I am feeling good apart from being tired. I have home health nurse tomorrow and dr on wednesday. I get to hear hbs tomorrow so I always look forward to that. Of course, I have to clean my house first before nurse comes lol. Dh and ds cleaned yards today, ds cleaned out my car for me(yeah, what does he want?? oh yeah money) so a busy weekend.

Me and my wonderful husband serve God. Blessed with twin girls 2/11/11. <3

Strong Mama, Sorry to hear about your loss, but it sounds like you are holding up well. And about all the sleep!

I'm doing all right - today was my DS's birthday, and we had a giant party for him, and he loved it. It was so much fun.

I'm even more worried than the last time I posted.

I had my ultrasound today and found out were having a girl. DH and DD are really happy about that. They wanted a girl. I was attached to the idea of another son. I'm going to be happy when I hear that the ultrasound showed good results. Right now I'm just worried.

I decided to call OBGYN tomorrow and see if they can tell me everything is fine. My ultasound wasn't exactly how I thought it would be. The tech was very thorough but wouldn't really tell me anything except that my doctor will tell me my results. This worried me more! Then at the end after showing us the face a million times, she had us wait in the waiting room for a while. She called us back in and said she needed more pictures of the nose and mouth. She took about 20 more pictures of babies face. Then she asked us to wait in the waiting room again while she showed the pictures to the radiologist!

Does this mean my baby has cleft pallet? What else could it mean? I wish she wasn't so illusive. I'm really scared.

Hello mommas,

All is well here. I am in my 17th week. Definitely feeling better than trimester 1, but not feeling fantastic. Still so very tired an occassionally sick. We have such a busy fall/winter planned, I'm trying to just take things week by week. THIS week we have our 18 week u/s and we find out blue or pink. I'm having a tough time focusing on anything else but that this week!

sorry trekkingirl, that sounds scary and not fun. congratulations on the girl! i hope you can adjust to the idea soon. i have no idea what it could mean, but i hope you get good results soon. also keep in mind that ultrasounds aren't 100% accurate. sometimes they diagnose a problem that is big, that is actually almost nothing, and sometimes they miss big problems. nurture yourself...sending you love and support.

Afternoon! Our weekend was interesting, B. stayed overnight with her Papa on Saturday night and then a friend of ours called to see if B. could stay over Sunday night with her granddaughter so they could have a beach day today. We considered if we should say no since we hardly saw her this weekend, school is about to start though and we won't have much summer left here. We decided she would have a blast and said yes.

We spent Saturday garage saleing, picked up a travel swing (the cats ruined our last one) and a mobywrap! I'm certain that this means I'm going to find mine as I finish going through boxes in the basement.

Still feeling kinda yucky, I've had an upset stomach since Friday.

Anyone else getting itchy? My previous stretchmarks on my stomach in particular.

it's so fun to graduate into another week! i'm 15 weeks today and growing. i had a great weekend which included my first "real meal". i've really been on sandwiches and all things carbs for a long time, but finally i got to eat salmon with quinoa and a butter lettuce salad...with my husband! wow. it was delicious, though i did tell my husband we'll stick with the beef for a bit longer as the salmon, normally my favorite fish was just a bit too fishy and fatty. but yum! a real meal! and we got to eat together, which in the past i just had to eat when i had to eat... so much progress. just delightful!

this weekend also included major pouch shopping online. the one i wanted the fleece kangaroo korner is no longer available...there website is shut down. so, i'm keeping an eye on ebay, but also did lots of looking for something similar. haven't bought anything yet!

we've also decided there's a possiblity we might move before the baby comes... so we were house hunting too. very fun, but it turned into us looking into the mountains, so we might be headed for a big change! exciting...but still up in the air.

we have our next appt with the midwife next week, unless she births her own baby this week... it will be great to hear the heartbeat again! oh yeah, and i start cutting down my natural progesterone today...it'll take me a few weeks to wean completely off.

yeah week 15!

thanks for the support ashley. I'm still waiting to hear back from the OB. I talked to the nurse and after looking over the ultrasound report she said she wasn't qualified to give me the results! These guys could have me freaked out for absolutely nothing. I looked at some older ultrasound pictures of the baby and her face looks perfect to me. One of them was even a 4D kind and she looks beautiful. If they say there is something wrong with her nose and lips I'm going to ask for another ultrasound?

my anxiety is making me feel sick to my stomach!

well I got the call back and all my worry was valid. They said there is a really big possibility that my baby girl has a cleft pallet. I don't even know how to feel about it. I feel so deeply in despair. I just can't stop crying. How will I feed her? I really want to research what I'm up against but I know there are some pretty bad pictures on the internet and I don't think I can handle seeing them right now.

Maybe you could research support groups in your area and they could help direct you towards resources that are less graphic and more informative. mama, this is so tough, I am very sorry.

trekkingirl, I'm sorry to hear about your troubling news. I wanted to share that a friend of mine had a baby with a cleft palate a few years ago and he had his first surgery to correct it when he was 1 or 2 days old. I'm not sure of any feeding-related issues. He was mostly a formula-fed baby, but I'm not sure if she nursed at all early on.

trekkingirl--- i'm so sorry about your news. i agree what about talking to people who've been through it instead of looking online. the pics may have you imagining much worse than you may have to deal with, and just scare the pants off you (plus i'm sure your imagination is doing just a fine job of that by itself). whereas talking to people would help you figure out different options and solutions. i'll reach out into my network and see if anyone has experience...and if i get anything back i'll pass on the info.

again, sending love and support. nurture yourself and your precious little girl.

Oh, trekkingirl, I'm so sorry about this troubling news! Have you spoken to the doctor yet? I swear, you'd think these docs and health care providers would be a whole lot more empathetic...

I think avoiding the Internet pics right now is probably a good idea. And if she does have a cleft palate, then at least you can take comfort in the fact that it's a "common" birth defect and one that can be addressed.

Keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you...

Oh, and congrats on your little girl!

UPDATE

Kaiser had their genetic counselor call me and she made me feel a lot better about everything. Tomorrow I go into San Francisco to see an actual Radiologist who will take a peek and see how she looks. The doctor who originally called made it sound a lot worse than it is. What they found is the possibility of a cleft lip (not palate) or a possilble prominent dip in the upper lip. They will try to see a cleft palate tomorrow. The counselor said a lot of times the tech will come up with something and the Radiologist won't confirm it. There is still a chance that nothing is wrong with her mouth. I have a few pictures of her lips and they look great to me. I'm not sure what they're seeing? Wish me luck!

Oh by the way, my spirits are up!

This sounds like good advice.

I agree! It's like they forget that even though they have all sorts of info and see this stuff all the time, it's scary for the moms and it's their first time dealing with it and it's their new baby with the issue.

Trekkingirl- Try not to stress too much. (Easier said than done, right?) I'm sure they'll be able to tell you all you need to know before too long. And congrats on your daughter. I love all the frilly baby girl stuff out there.
