We only saw one widdle baby today...Makes me wonder what happened so that we clearly saw 2 heartbeats last week.

I have to say I'm very sad, almost like I feel that the other baby died, even if it was never there.

I'm sorry to hear that. That's one of my biggest fears with a twin pregnancy, honestly. I'm so sorry you're going through it.
I hope you are able to grieve your little twin if you choose and have a joyful pg with your healthy little one.

Thank you everyone for all your hugs and thoughts. I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge them sooner, I just couldn't bring myself to even get on here yesterday at all, but I feel a little better today, just still very confused.

Ok, here's what I have come to believe happened. I have put a lot of thought and research into this, and I think it's a viable possibility, even though I may never know for sure.

When we went in last week, and clearly saw the 2 heartbeats, but couldn't distinguish the 2nd body, I now think that 2nd baby wasn't thriving, and was way too small - that's why we couldn't measure the body. And by the time we went back for the confirmation u/s, the baby had died. It has helped me process this so much, and I'm grateful for that.

Thank you all again for your hugs and support

I am sorry too. And I understand. I was carrying twins with my first pregnancy, and at about 10 weeks, I started to miscarry-it was physically more painful than any of my childbirths, and emotionally devastating. I didn't know it was twins until 2 weeks later, when I still "felt" pregnant, I went to a clinic and they saw 2 sacks, and one little heartbeat. Apparently, one twin wasn't viable and I miscarried him or her.

That being said, I was in Africa when my daughter was born, living out of a backpack and moving home to home every few days, so I am grateful now (in hindsight) that I was blessed with one healthy baby...and not two.
