orngtongue.gif I couldn't take it anymore! But the good news is I found 'moderate support' pregnancy style hose for $30 on amazon.com!!! The quote from my midwife was $70 locally, most places are $60 something on the net, I found a sale for $45 and then finally $30- shipped!!! whoo-hoo!

I am excited- I took the dog for a walk on Friday and my reward was a swollen aching leg for the next two days. Sheesh! Makes me crabby b/c I am pretty athletic, but I feel best this pregnancy when I do next-to-nothing. If I simply confine myself to domestic chores, I have no ligament aches, no leg swelling, no irritations except a fat butt and bored muscles! lol.gif

Anyone else want to whine about their varicose veins?!

I want to whine! My varicose veins are not in my legs, they are in my butt and vulva! Ugh! I work in an office and thus sit on my butt all day. On the days I get exercise or just lay around they are not so bad, but sitting all day is very annoying. Do you think support hose can do anything about this location of veins?

The veins on my right leg are awful but they don't hurt so I'm trying to avoid the support hose. I might have to break down and get some if it gets painful!

teehee!! Thanks, i feel better thinking about your aching butt! ;-) I work at a desk in the am and my leg annoys me all morning. :(

my vulva is pretty swollen too-- here is the big *sign* i've been waiting for to tell me i'm done with babies!!!

The support goes all the way up- my mw is an 'all or nothing' lady- you wear full hose or none at all b/c she says you need support where the issue originates around your core.

I figure for $30 and another winter layer, how can i go wrong?!

I have a script for a set.  I just need to find time to go buy them.  We've met our deductible for the year so I'm going to go with the medical supply company that my insurance likes.

Megan-With my youngest my same veins were swollen but she was a fall baby. Every time I went to the dr during the summer if I was wearing shorts or a skirt the nurses would go on and on and touch my veins and ask again and again "Does that hurt??" Ugh, really??? Don't you think I would be complaining about them if it did? I'm glad it's almost winter and I can wear pants to cover mine up this time!

I didn't even know you could get varicose veins in other areas until I googled something about veins a few weeks ago. I don't have them but things are super swollen in that area. I'm hoping they stay away!!

Hey hon!! :) Sorry, I've been AWOL.... I just used amazon.com!!! 'Gabriella' brand, firm/moderate compression (20-30 mmHg) for $30 or so; plus free shipping. I got size medium and they seem to fit fine... I'm 5'7'' or so, used to be slender, lol!!! I show so much more than *any* of the other april mamas I know IRL... and there are quite a few!

I have a varicose vein in the vulva area.  just one. It's on the right side and it gets so achy!! It comoes and goes, when I'm on my feet (if I work 2 or more days in a row or if I walk around alot) ugh.  I'm probably going to have to get some support hose, too.

I asked my dr this morning how you know it's time you need compression hose and he said "When you're desperate enough to ask me for a prescription for compression hose." LOL! He said it's fine not to wear them but I could have them if I wanted them. I said no thanks and that I would wait it out. I'm so thankful to have a winter/spring pregnancy. I know it's keeping my bp a little lower and helping with the swelling.
