I got a lot done this week thanks to my mom.  I'm officially packed and have the majority of the HB stuff.

My next big thing is keeping the house clean.

  • make birth plan - no longer doing since MWs, DH and doula know my wishes
  • review birth plan with doula and MWs
  • arrange child care for DS and DD for labour and the early days
  • prepare labour bag
  • prepare for home birth
  • meet with Doula
  • organize storage locker
  • organize & throughly clean master bedroom, kids' room, office, bathroom, kitchen, living room - almost done, dining room - almost done  and all closets
  • purge unwanted and unnecessary stuff - started
  • organize kids toys
  • sort out all baby and kid clothes by size and gender - started
  • decide what baby/kid clothing to keep or get rid of
  • KEEP HOUSE CLEAN (a huge challenge especially since I'm the only one who actually cleans)
  • make a couple of freezer meals for the postpartum period
  • get baby bassinet, wrap, baby clothes and bouncy chair from my parents' place
  • buy infant car seat
  • convince DH to get large vehicle (since we can't fit all 3 in our car)
  • get nursing bras

plus the other non-baby but just as important stuff like registering DS for school and other activities.

Do you have private instructors in the area? Sometimes they'll work with families on the fee. Another option, which is basically what I did, is to find the book and CD used on ebay and self-study. I did take a class but only made it through two classes of the series. I started the class late and he was born at 39 weeks. But what I did learn from my own reading and listening was more than enough to help me during labor!

I haven't posted in a while over here.  My to do list has been nearly insurmountable and changes daily, with trying to get our house on the market and get us packed to move.  BUT I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Almost.  We're 30 days out from moving day, and 50ish days out from my EDD.  I still have two bedrooms and a bathroom to paint.  LOTS of stuff to pack.  I have contractors coming in next week to do some remodeling.  We've got to go down and try to find a house, and I think we're going to take a load of stuff to put in storage.  I was able to cross off finding a doctor in our new town this week, but I still need to have my records transferred.  We got the house listed yesterday and had pictures taken, and that was a huge step forward. This week I also got the kitchen ceiling painted.  I think Thursday and Friday I am going to work on packing, cleaning out the closets.  Everything has to be out of the closets so they can refinish the hardwood in there.

Only 29 more days to my EDD, or I'll be full-term in 1w1d.  I cannot believe how quickly February passed!  My list is feeling much more manageable and my schedule, too.  It's been go, go, go every weekend prepping for the baby and I think this is our last weekend of that.  Whew!  I took today off of work, and I was also only planning on working a 4 day week.  So, that means there's 9 days of work left for me which I wrap up on March 17.  Here's the list to-date (now, I know I could take off January, but it makes me feel so accomplished!)

January

  • ·         Patch nursery walls
  • ·         Paint nursery
  • ·         Hang curtains
  • ·         Purchase lamp, rug and art for nursery
  • ·         Finish registry
  • ·         Get washing machine fixed
  • ·         Register at hospital
  • ·         Attend birth class

February

  • ·         Finish decorating nursery (IN PROGRESS)
  • ·         Purchase light fixture for nursery
  • ·         Decide whether or not to purchase freezer
  • ·         Birth plan (DRAFT COMPLETE, need to finalize)
  • ·         Host baby shower – February 13
  • ·         Send baby shower thank yous
  • ·         Purchase "necessary" items that remain un-bought on baby registry (IN PROGRESS)
  • ·         Figure out breast feeding (IN PROGRESS)
  • ·         Arrange for newborn photos
  • ·         Make freezer food (STARTED)
  • ·         Get window installed in basement
  • ·         Complete home inspection (scheduled for Feb 15)
  • ·         Get furnace leak fixed
  • ·         File tax return

March

  • ·         Birth kit supplies
  • ·         Buy fish net, RV hose (white), floating thermometer,  and waterproof sheet for birthing pool
  • ·         Pack "just in case" hospital transfer bag
  • ·         Baby first aid/care
  • ·         Wash baby’s 0-3M clothes
  • ·         Prepare cloth diapers
  • ·         Have car cleaned
  • ·         Install car seat
  • ·         Purchase freezer and have delivered
  • ·         Make freezer food
  • ·         Create email list for first baby photos/notice
  • ·         Buy a nursing bra/tank
  • ·         Finalize baby budget

DW and I are moms to two teens (DD 17 and DS 15) adopted through CAS in 2007 and a toddler (DD 2) born at home in March 2011.

Whoa!  It sounds like you have a HUGE list!  I gather that you're moving...but have your sold your house yet and have you found a new house yet?  I'm struggling right now, and you have my utmost respect with all of this going on as well.  Good luck!

We haven't sold our house, but we have to move on the 1st of April regardless.  My dh is military, so we don't get much choice about the timing.  We've been house hunting online, and have a list of places we want to see.  I don't know if we'll be settled somewhere permanent by the time we have the baby or not though, and that's a little scary.

Hey ladies,

check out my blog to enter my most recent giveaway of a $25 gift card for Milk Paint. I see on some of your lists that you're redoing furniture and this product is amazing (and the most environmentally friendly and non toxic option out there!).  beryl-lynn.com

As far as what's still on my to-do list:

-Set up bassinet in bedroom

-Find knobs for dresser that we made into a changing table

-Finish packing hospital bag

-Finish compost bin in yard and transplant seedlings into garden plot

-Find a non-vax/delay vax pediatrician (most impossible thing in this town!)

-Install car seat

-Finish decorating baby's room

-Find rug for baby's room

-Stock up on non-perishables

Everett Kai due April 3rd!

have you thought about going with a family dr.? It is hard to find a ped that is okay with selective/no-vax, but family dr.'s seem to be more open, check your tribal area and ask around, that is how I found ds' dr.

Updating. I thought I was way behind, but I'm surprised to see I'm not doing too badly. I've lost steam on cleaning, but hopefully I''ll get back in the groove soon. I'd really  like to get some more of these rooms finished.

Now

Start listening to hypnobirthing cd

Deep clean house: declutter/purge, dust, vacuum/sweep/mop as needed

 - basement

 - laundry room

 - family room (incl front hall)

 - kitchen

 - front room

 - our BR and closet

 - office

 - DS's room

 - bathrooms (halfway there)

donate purged stuff (ongoing -- just put out 8 garbage bags and two unneeded furniture items for donation pickup)

Sort through baby clothes

Pass all my boy stuff on to others

Sort through diapers, make a list of needs (no needs for newborn/small sizes... can't find my medium stash though... hmmm...)

Make list of meals for freezer

Cook/Bake for freezer (ongoing -- have a great start so far, and still 2.5 months to go!)

Figure out what to do with DSs while in labor/at hospital

knit for baby - longies/soakers, hat, afghan (working on longies/soaker  afghan now)

Paint DS1's bedroom (it's still decorated in baby animals and he's turning 7 lol)

sew DS2 some new long pants (he's so tall and skinny, nothing fits him!)

Later

Reorganize our room to make space for baby's clothes

Buy new dresser? or another storage system for clothes

Set up cosleeper

DH and I change places in bed so DS2 gets used to sleeping next to DH not me

Wash baby clothes and diapers

Get out other baby stuff -- bath pillow, changing pad, bouncy seat, car seat

Make list of things we need (swaddling blanket, receiving blankets, onesies are the things I know of offhand)

Pack hospital bags - labor, PP

Buy/make gifts for DSs from baby

Install car seat

Check out books from library for long nursing sessions

Replace batteries in book light

Woo-hoo! I'm due on Monday and nearly through the list. Of those remaining items from my last update:

Priorities

De-clutter main areas of apartment - bathroom, bedroom, living room, kitchen

Fix couch cover w/velcro

Big grocery trip - include labor/post-birth foods

Make a lasagna for the freezer (just to get us through a few days)

Clean apartment! Maybe hire one-time cleaning service to get things really clean (we just did it ourselves, to skip the expense)

Trial set up birth tub

To Do in Early Labor (as time allows)

Make bran muffin mix to keep in refrigerator, and bake a batch

Make hash brown casserole (husband wants to do this)

Things that I'm Basically Okay With Not Getting Done Before the Birth

Buy a more neutral bedroom rug (the one we have does not go with our new bedding)

Install storage shelf on bedroom wall above door or next to dresser

Finish knitting baby blanket -- IN PROGRESS

We did finally get moved, ans I have been going over hypnobirthing scripts, and we've done some perineal massage. However, almost all our baby stuff is still in storage, and I haven't been able to get my home visit with my midwife done. That will be tomorrow, though, when I am exactly 38 weeks. I really don't feel a sense of urgency, though. Luckily, I feel pretty calm about everything. I think I realy do have a couple more weeks before we will be meeting this little one face to face.

I love your headings Neuromancer! I want all the important stuff done by my due date (in 2.5 weeks), but I also want to have stuff I can be working on if/when I go over.

From Original List
  • Do last minute decorating/organizing in birthing room: hang icicle lights, reorganize DS's toys, hang emergency birth instructions, etc.
  • Clean and reorganize basement - will have DH work on this if/when he finishes the more important stuff
  • Deep clean and declutter main floor of house - still need to finish the kitchen, dining room, and living room, then do a good once-over of everything
  • Cook Freezer Meals - I just have 2 dinners, 3 breakfasts, and 5 desserts left to make over the next 2-3 weeks then we'll be completely done!
  • Get replacement parts for upright freezer shelves
  • Add driving directions to Food Tidings page
  • Stock pantry with basic foods - will start doing this in April once we're done buying ingredients for freezer meals
  • Attend Hypnosis for Birth classes (1 left before my due date), water aerobics classes (2 left before I stop going), and chiro appts (2-4 left depending on when baby comes)
  • Get massage around due date - scheduled for April 13th
  • Keep list of people to update after birth up-to-date
  • Double-make bed(s) - still need to decide which one(s) to double-make
  • Test birth pool and accessories
  • Re-install convertible rear-facing with original pillow and padding
  • Henna belly, have maternity pictures taken
  • Wrap gifts from DS to baby
  • Buy gift cards for midwives, wrap gifts and pick out Thank You cards

To Do If There's Extra Time
  • Make thieves oil hand soap and lotion
  • Cut flannel for diaper liners
  • Wash and prepare bottles and Lact-aid accessories
  • Wash DS's new clothes and baby boy clothes up to 12 months
  • String birth beads
  • Have both car seats inspected by car seat tech

Doing really well, actually. I surprise myself. I have GOT to make plans to paint DS's room. That HAS to happen. I wanted to do it before I got too close to the end of the pregnancy, but March has turned out to be really busy on the weekends, and I won't have a chance until I'm 37-38w or so. DH might be doing a lot of the work... sorry dear.

Now

Start listening to hypnobirthing cd

Deep clean house: declutter/purge, dust, vacuum/sweep/mop as needed

 - basement

 - laundry room

 - family room (incl front hall) family room isn't too bad, I think I'm going to skip it

 - kitchen

 - front room

 - our BR and closet

 - office giving up on this one, it's just not gonna happen

I'm lovin this list makin as I'm nearly done my list and probably not a moment too soon - I'm 38w5d today.  I'm thinking now that I'm on maternity leave, I should add "nap daily" to my list.  I'm getting really good at that one orngbiggrin.gif.  There's just a paltry three items left to tackle.  I actually did the birth email list last night, but none of the addresses imported so I'll have to do that again.  I just love looking at how much we've accomplished in the past three months!

January
•    Patch nursery walls
•    Paint nursery
•    Hang curtains
•    Purchase lamp, rug and art for nursery
•    Finish registry
•    Get washing machine fixed
•    Register at hospital
•    Attend birth class

February
•    Finish decorating nursery (IN PROGRESS)
•    Purchase light fixture for nursery
•    Decide whether or not to purchase freezer
•    Birth plan (DRAFT COMPLETE, need to finalize)
•    Host baby shower – February 13
•    Send baby shower thank yous
•    Purchase "necessary" items that remain un-bought on baby registry (IN PROGRESS)
•    Figure out breast feeding (IN PROGRESS)
•    Arrange for newborn photos
•    Make freezer food (STARTED)
•    Get window installed in basement
•    Complete home inspection (scheduled for Feb 15)

•    Get furnace leak fixed
•    File tax return

March
•    Birth kit supplies
•    Birth plan (NEED TO FINALIZE AND REVIEW WITH SUPPORT TEAM)
•    Buy fish net, RV hose (white), floating thermometer,  and waterproof sheet for birthing pool

•    Pack "just in case" hospital transfer bag
•    Baby first aid/care (CPR class scheduled for March 20)
•    Figure out breast feeding (IN PROGRESS)
•    Wash baby’s 0-3M clothes
•    Prepare cloth diapers
•    Have car cleaned
•    Install car seat
•    Purchase freezer and have delivered
•    Make freezer food (IN PROGRESS)
•    Watch Bringing Home Baby video

•    Create email list for first baby photos/notice
•    Birth tub trial run
•    Buy a nursing bra/tank
•    Finalize baby budget

•    Make post-partum pads
•    Apply for EI

DW and I are moms to two teens (DD 17 and DS 15) adopted through CAS in 2007 and a toddler (DD 2) born at home in March 2011.

Some of your lists look SO good!  I'm impressed and jealous.  ;-)

My list has changed a lot from the beginning.  Some projects were too ambitious and I totally forgot about a bunch of others.  There's the revised, I'm getting tired and large, 37 week list:

Write thankyous

Make a dentist appointment for DC

Swap sides of the bedroom with DH / Finish bedroom / Deep clean

Finish dining room table and chest (lofty goal!)

Make bulk trash appointment

Give SIL a birth shopping list

Go over homebirth supplies with DH

Prep diapers

Organize postnatal mama stuff / make comfrey pads

Install carseat

Have step-dad reinforce sidecar crib

Well, I've gotten a few things done, and some things are still in progress.  This has been a busy month for me, and I'm all big and tired now, so I'll probably have to deal with not getting some things done.  I really want to squeeze in daily exercise, which has fallen by the wayside, and naps, because I'm not getting the best sleep at night these days.
