Now that the holidays are over, I'm itching to get things done and ready for April. I was thinking it would be nice to have a place for all of us to keep track of what we need to get done.

To Do
  • Clean out back room, make room for birth pool and futon
  • Clean and reorganize basement
  • Deep clean and declutter main floor of house
  • Get out 0-3 month clothes and put in drawers, get everything up to 12 months out of storage so it's easy to access when baby moves up sizes, wash DS's new clothes and baby boy clothes up to 12 months
  • Get newborn cloth diapers and covers out, lanolize wool items, make sure all baby carriers are usable, pack diaper bag with baby stuff, assemble breastfeeding box
  • Cook freezer meals, set up Food Tidings page, stock pantry with basic foods
  • Help plan showers, collect addresses, mail invites, attend showers, and write thank-yous
  • Attend Hypnosis for Birth classes, water aerobics classes, and chiro appts, get massage at start of third trimester and on due date
  • Move garden boxes off of deck
  • Keep list of people to update after birth up-to-date
  • Pack transfer bag, make emergency birth plans, make hard copy list of names in case top picks don't fit
  • Get all birth supplies together, organized, and easy-to-access, double-make bed, move futon into back room, test birth pool and accessories
  • Install extra car seat for DS, Re-install convertible rear-facing with original pillow and padding, have both seats inspected by car seat tech
  • Belly henna, maternity pictures
  • Choose gifts for DS from baby, for baby from DS, and for midwives

To Buy
  • Birth Kit, towels & wash cloths
  • Wet bags, snappis, small diaper covers, diaper detergent
  • Gifts for/from DS, gifts for midwives
  • Cordless phone with speakerphone
  • Stock up on household items: disposable dishes, toilet paper, garbage bags, plastic bags & food wraps, dish soap & cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, toiletries, etc.
  • new car seat for DS (can use his extra seat for a while if needed)
  • new booster seat for dining table (can use the seat he has now until baby starts solids if needed)

    In Progress
    Done

Mama to DS1 (12/07), DS2 (4/11), and DD (6/22/14)
Finally diagnosed with APS after 3 s (11/09, 3/10, 7/13)

So sorry Nerdymom. Hope you feel better soon. I think I'll get DH to help put away the Christmas stuff tomorrow and Monday while he's home, and not wait until next week to do it by myself, now that I'm in couch-jail...lol. i know I will feel better with things a little more decluttered.

I also need to get a dresser for our room (ours had to be moved into the other room to qualify for the foster care license), and get his little clothes in it, move DS into a crib from the portable bed, and move that into our room and put the bassinet and changing table attachments back on it. Also install the car seat, since I don't know how much longer I'll have before he's born

However...I like what one of you said in the other similar thread - if NOTHING gets don, we will be fine and baby will be fine. I must repeat that over and over. Hehe!

hmmm

Check status of cloth dipes and make sure I have enough dipes, covers etc. Maybe purchase some size 1's sposies for nightime... not sure?

Wash blankets ( clothes are all washed and folded in drawers ) Just 0-3 and newborn

get co sleeper from friend and set it up

Install infant carseat

Get Moby from friend and wash

Bring up bouncy seat from basement

Make plan for babysitting for other 2 kids during birth/ labor

Make lots of food for freezer ( not sure if this is going to happen as food still kinda grosses me out and the thought of making food and freezing it just seems like to much effort) I did it for my other 2 births though.

Sort through birth supplies and see what I need to buy/ get

Make frozen witch hazel pads.

Im sure there are other things... Im going to email this list to myself

thinking about everything that has to happen before baby girl gets here makes me want to lay down and cry.  We have to move 6.5 hours away to a new state 3 weeks before she's due.  So everything that involves selling our house and buying a new one- put that on my list.  Honestly, I can't do much of anything to get our home ready since this wont be her home.  I do need to go through all my diapering supplies and cull what's worn out and figure out what I need to stock up on.  Just over this weekend I went through ALL of ds's baby clothes up through size 24m and picked out what to keep and what will have to go.  A friend is supposed to be bringing me some hand me down newborn girl clothes, so with what I have left from ds, I should be ok on clothes to start out with.

I'm sorry. It must be so hard to have to do that. Five months before we had DS we moved back in with my parents for a year. We put nearly everything in we owned in storage and had to live out of one small bedroom. It was really tough not to be able to do those "nesting" things that I desperately wanted to be able to do.

I think if I can tackle one thing a week, moving won't be so awful come the end of March.  This week I am cleaning out closets and cabinets.  I've pretty much accomplished as much as I can with that, there's just a little more to go.  Next week will be Magic Eraser Madness.  It's my goal to get the walls as clean as possible in the bedrooms, hallway and bathrooms.

Mmmm..."Magic Eraser Madness Week"...I love it. Don't think it mixes well with bedrest orders, but if someone offers to come and help me for an hour or 2, I think I will stick them to it *evil grin* (Hey! Wouldn't you rather magic Erase someone elses walls, rather than scrub their toilets?? Lol!!)

How do you feel about using Magic Erasers around your kids, I mean, what makes them work? I have horrid marks on the walls that won't come off with Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner. I'm picky about the cleaning products I use. I've never tried a magic eraser.

I just downloaded the Motivated Moms chore charts. I really need something to help me structure my household cleaning chores, and these are simple enough not to be too scary, but thorough enough to maintain a clean home. I dusted my mantle today...oh boy. it was ugly. In the 2 1/2 years since we've moved in I think I've remembered to dust that mantle a maximum of twice. yuck.

Wow, my list consists of getting the baby stuff out of the garage and putting it in a dresser. That is it really. It is so much easier after the first few :D

NM, I've read some things about Magic Erasers.  I would be hesitant to let a kid actually use one w/o gloves...and I wouldn't let a kid chew on one but I wouldn't hesitate to use one in a home with kids (unless I was super into all natural cleaners, which, sadly, we aren't).

Zen...jealous...sort of.  I wouldn't know what to do with all this nesting energy if that's all I wanted to get done.  ;-)

I don't let ds do any of the scrubbing with the Magic Erasers, but I keep them around for crayon on the wall type emergencies.  They take an amazing amount of dirt and grime off.  And somehow, we always have an amazing amount of dirt and grime irked.gif

My parents have mastiffs.  Mastiff slobber -- eww!!   Anything you have to do to get it off stuff w/o "reconstituting" would be well worth it, imo.

Maybe they are worth a shot, to try to revive these horrid walls. Our apartment is of course painted with cheap flat paint in the most dull, boring beige. It shows every smudge, might as well be stark white.

One good thing about flat paint, NM, is that you can paint over it in patches -- don't have to do the whole wall.  Is there any left over paint in some storage space?

I could ask maintenance...we didn't paint it. I'm going to hang lots of pictures and some select posters all over the place to distract from the beigey beige everywhere. I am not a beige person. I detest beige. I loathe it. But with only a year and a half left at this post there is no way I am investing money in paint. The next place, I'm gonna paint.
