I seem to have lost a bit of steam for researching stuff so I wonder if you all will share what you're doing as far is 3rd Trimester nutrition, supplements and fitness.  For instance, I know I read a while back about starting Evening Primrose Oil at some point late in pregnancy.  I also thought Vit C is important for the amniotic sac?  I also think I read that fish oil is more important now than ever (I should get back to taking that).  I've been trying to get a daily drink of Red Raspberry Leaf Tea.  I also got a birth ball, improving posture, and am working on the spinning babies site for optimal fetal positioning.  I've got to get the kegles going...

 

What else are you all doing to get ready for this home stretch?  I'd love to hear anything - both "mainstream" and alternative because I feel I'm not even up on the conventional stuff right now.  

 

For any of you super organized mamas (I know we have some winky.gif) I'd love to see a list that includes the things we may have been wanting to have been doing all along (for a reminder/motivator) as well as a list of the things that can/should be added as the pregnancy comes to an end (as if any of us are really ready to think about that).

I'll start since I asked!  

 

Things you can/should already be doing:  

 

Attention to adequate protein intake 

Attention to water intake 

Good nutrition and/or supplement (I'm only doing a gummi vit when I think of it and the very sporadic Vit C and Fish Oil)  

Some good mama tea (RRL, Alfalfa, Stinging Nettle is what I'm doing when I can)  What else to add?  

 

Things to begin thinking in the 3rd Trimester (or sooner): 

 

Limit couch time 

Consider optimal baby positioning / spinningbabies.com

Do some relaxation stuff for labor (Hypnobabies?)  

 

 

At about 6 weeks before DD: 

 

Focus on optimal positioning 

Consider EPO 

Increase RRL Tea

If you haven't been working at it already, I'll recommend doing Kegel exercises.  I didn't do it last time and it took me much longer to recover my pelvic floor than after my first pregnancy (of course some of that could be age, but I'm not taking any chances).

I'm trying to make an effort in the protein and water department.  Also RRL tea, which I already have and from what I recall tasted pretty good - just need to make it a habit to drink it every day.

ugh...I was sooo militant about all of these things when pregnant with my first, but I just cannot seem to get myself to do all of the things I KNOW I should be doing!

Must get motivated....

Nothing exciting to add to what others have said. Here are my lists:

 

What i'm taking:

prenatal

vit c with bioflavonoids

vit d

b complex

EPO

fish oil

probiotics

 

What I need to get better about right now:

kegels (my pelvic floor is already weaker than weak.. blah)

exercise in general

protein intake (80-100g/day)

water

pregnancy tea (ideally I make my own with RRL, oatstraw, nettle leaf, and alfalfa, non-ideally, I use the commercially sold tea bags)

start listening to my hypnobirthing cd

 

Looking ahead to 30+weeks:

positioning -- have anterior placenta, which increases chances of posterior babe

pull out the birth/exercise ball and think of a way to get my kids to leave it alone, start using it

start thinking about birth a little bit LOL

Stuff I'm doing:
Adequate water, protein, etc.
Kegels, squats, tailor sitting, pelvic tilts, etc.
Optimal fetal positioning, sitting on birth ball at computer, etc.
Chiropractic once/month (was every other week, but insurance coverage changed at the new year so I had to cut back)
Hypnobabies Home Study Course - started affirmations around 14 weeks and course at 20 weeks (am in maintenance now and will go through course again 33-37 weeks then back to maintenance after that)
Hypnosis sessions with hypnotist - about twice a month starting around 20 weeks
Water aerobics once/week - started at 26 weeks

Stuff I'm going to do:
Yoga video once a week starting ASAP
Massages at 28 weeks and on due date
Perineal massage 1-2 times/week starting around 36w

Supplements I'm taking:
Synthroid - 88mcg/day
Perfect Prenatal Vitamin - 1 serving/day
Hema-Plex - 1 serving/day (85mg elemental iron)
Vitamin C - 2000-3000 mg/day of homemade Emergen-C type drink
Citrus Bioflavanoids - 700mg/day
Pantothenic Acid - 1500mg/day
Magnesium Citrate - 200mg/day
B-100 - 1 serving/day
B-12 - 5000mcg/day
Folic Acid - 1000mcg/day (started at 3000mcg/day before conception, gradually reduced as pg progressed)
Vit E - 400IU/day (will stop around 36-37 weeks)
Vitamin D3 - 4000IU/day
Liquid Cal/Mag - 600mg Cal & 300mg Mag/day (I've only been needing this every other day so far, but will increase as needed for leg cramps and/or insomnia, will probably double dose by end of pregnancy)
Homemade Pregnancy Tea (was taking 2 cups a day until I ran out of Nettles and Mountain Rose has taken forever to get some to me; when I receive them, I will start drinking 3 cups/day until about 36 weeks, when I will switch to straight infusions of RRL and Nettles)

And I was taking but have stopped the following supplements:
Prometrium - 200mg/day (weaned off gradually and was all done around 14-15 weeks)
Baby Aspirin - 88mg/day (stopped at 25 weeks due to increased chance of heart defects when taken after that)

Supplements I'm going to take:
Probiotics - starting at 34 weeks (or 2 weeks before GBS test) until birth
Garlic (2-3 cloves/day), Yogurt (1 cup/day), & Echinacea tea (1 cup/day) - starting at 35 weeks (or 1 week before GBS test) until GBS test
Garlic dipped in tea tree oil inserted vaginally - 5, 4, and 3 days before GBS test
Gentle Birth Formula from Mountain Meadow Herbs - starting at 36 weeks
GBS Prevention after test until birth: 1 garlic clove/day orally, 3-4 cups yogurt/week, repeat vaginal garlic dipped in tea tree oil once weekly until birth, then at 39 weeks begin drinking 1 cup Echinacea tea daily again for two weeks or until birth - whichever comes first.
Evening Primrose Oil - starting 37w5d (1350mg capsules taken orally and vaginally on increasing schedule: 1st wk - 2o+1v/day, 2nd wk - 2o+2v/day, 3rd wk until birth - 3o+2v/day)

Mama to DS1 (12/07), DS2 (4/11), and DD (6/22/14)
Finally diagnosed with APS after 3 s (11/09, 3/10, 7/13)
