Interesting, since I have the same "issue" and liked the boppy. I especially really needed it at first for DS to get a good latch, and could nurse him with a pillow if away from home, but liked having the boppy to get him high enough. I too hold my breast (with the hand on that side) and wish I could learn, maybe with this next one, how to nurse without holding it.

I'd love to get a padded maya wrap but my unpadded (2 years old) is still in great shape and it's still comfortable.

Kitchen things....love these measuring cups and this flexible spatula, very thin and perfect for flipping eggs. And these prep bowls from Mario Batali are great. There are several colors available.

Nursing pads....I have the gerber brand of washable pads, and often use two, sometimes with a folded flannel diaper wipe in there too. If we are out of the house, I like to use disposable with plastic just to ensure against leaking through my shirt. But, I don't use the plastic kind a lot because of moisture issues that have been discussed here.

I am so excited!! My MIL knows I love that dream blanket from aden & anis, and she just told me tonight to order the one I want and she'll mail me a check for it!! I am sooooo happy!!! I can't wait to use this blanket. I chose the monkey pattern http://www.adenandanais.com/shop/itemdisplay.aspx?ID=106&SKU=6026 Did anyone see the washcloths? I added a set of those to my registry, they seem lovely though HUGE. Amazon says 11"x11" but the aden website says 15x15".

Alicia, wife to an loving and faithful DH, and mama to three fantastic though nutty children (cs, then an HBAC, then a VBAC!!).

I added some toys -- a play mat (the same as Cook!) and the Giraffe thing.  It wasn't exactly intentional...I just never really think "toys" when I think of a baby.  But, you're right that if people love to give that kind of thing I may as well let them know the type I would like.

Thanks!!

Alicia your registry looks good. Since this is a second child I'm assuming you have a car seat, highchair and etc. Now I'll go check out Mrsbone's. It looks like you guys have put a lot of thought into these. :)

Mrsbone, I love all the pink! I am so jealous, I want to sew girly things so badly. everything look good from here, since this is a second child you probably have the bassinet and highchair and car seat, right? You didn't have a diaper bag on there, is that because you don't need one?

Oh, btw Indentity I forgot to tell you your notes are great. If I were shopping for someone I would love to see notes like that! It also shows that you put thought into each thing that went on your registry and didn't just add stuff willy nilly.

that's my main registry at target, i did delete one of the high chairs, this is my second and we have most the big items. I just added stuff i really liked when ds was small, sleep sacks, gowns etc, and other small random things we need, not a whole of big items. I have either bought them myself or already have them, actually the only big things i have bought are the breastpump, carseat, cloth diapers/disposable diapers, crib set, and we need to buy the crib. I have one other medium/big thing i want, which is a stroller frame for the carseat i bought, and have it on my babies r us registry, and also a big baby gate, but mostly it is just the little things that we need.

That looks good then. I was going to mention the highchair thing, but you already deleted one so good. Do you have a ring sling or pouch? I like the Moby, but I also like to have a ring sling. It's a personal preference, but something to consider if you don't have one.

yes, I have a carseat, swing, high chair, multiple diaper bags to chose from, bassinet that is a family heirloom, etc. I need to get a double/sit n stand stroller, just haven't settled on which one yet. Oh and I already have like 4 different slings, all hand me downs. I have all the cloth diapers I'll need for the first few months (using prefolds). After that I have 17 all in ones and a bunch of medium/large prefolds because my toddler is still wearing diapers. I'm hoping he won't be in them as much by then. Pretty well set!

I asked this on the shower thread too but though you all may have an opinion.

What do you do when someone buys something off your registry and it gets shipped to you with no card?  Do you call them and say thanks (cuz you know it's from them based on the registry)?  What do you do if you suspect that it is meant to be a group gift?

I'd do like Starcat said on the other thread. Call and say "I see that you can't make it to the baby shower. And there was no card but I checked online and you were the one who bought the carseat! Thank you so much!" And see what she says.

Yeah, and I'm hoping people at my church will realize that if I didn't put it on the registry, then I most likely *don't* need it/want it/or already have it.  I added a couple Carter's white basics earlier today using the universal registry button (awesome tool). I also LOVE that with amazon you can mark as purchased an item you buy elsewhere, in case gift givers want to find the item elsewhere.

Hey all,

Could you please please take a peep at mine? It's rather haphazard at this point. I'm going to post separately about my diaper stuff in the cloth diapering thread, but of course any comments here are welcome as well.

I'm a little worried there's too much either pricey or overly practical stuff on here--of course I want people ot give me the practical stuff, but I know that it's not as much fun for shower-goers.

What about the note on the welcome page--is it tacky? I just wanted to make clear that we are set for NB-3 mo or so, clothes-wise.

What am I missing on here? Teething supplies? More bath stuff? Toys?

I think your note is fine. I have a note too and I wonder if people even read it! I am sure you will still get some clothes so be prepared for that.

Couple comments:

1. I'd put 2 quantity for the disposable diaper liners

2. Your notes on individual items get cut off. Can you preview your registry for how others will see it, and check out which notes you need to shorten? Some of them say "more" which you can click to view the whole note.

3. I'd advise against regularly using nursing pads containing plastic. I use them but only when going out when I don't want to risk leaks on my shirt. At home, I use cloth washable pads (gerber has some, target carries them). Your nipples need to breath or you can bring on unnecessary soreness. The plastic prevents air flow.  I see you also have cloth pads later on, so maybe you already knew that! thumb.gif

4. On the ones that have a generic picture, can you choose a different picture? People might skip over those items.

5. Do you already have a car seat?

Some things to consider adding, if they interest you:

diaper creams?

waterproof pads for under sheets (either crib or your own sheet to protect mattress)

more than one washcloth

baby tub

diaper bag

Something you could do is go to Babies R Us and look at their registry check list. Review it to see if anything pops out to you. Changing table pad and cover, crib sheets for later?

Great suggestions! Thank you! I figured I should have some cloth pads and then get some disposables for backup/travel.

Already have changing pad, a few washcloths, and diaper cream (all hand me downs or gifts) but definitely should look into crib & bassinet bedding, plastic sheets, etc. We also already have an infant car seat (a Snugride) but I plan to register for a convertible one.

Yeah, the generic pictures are irritating--I'll see what I can do about them. I didn't know BabiesRUs had a registry checklist--will definitely take a look!

I like the note on the welcome page.  If you were going to change anything I may start off with something general about how excite you are to share this new baby with family and friends.  I may also mention something about using cloth diapers -- just to intro the idea to people who may not be that familiar with the idea.  But, all in all, I LOVE that my registry has that cover page.  So much more inviting than Amazon.

My main critique to MyRegistry is that you have to give them your e-mail in order to view the registry.

Also in your notes (or in your main note) you may want to mention when people can feel free to buy the item elsewhere (or even a similar item).

I love those bibs you have on there!

Have you considered ordering from a different diaper shop from the one you have listed?  I am really enjoying Nikki's diapers because I feel like it's a nice site and people may wander around there...maybe getting a small gift from their site because it's so cute.  Do you have any local shops on there?

I would also very much consider organizing the items by groups as much as you can.  For instance having all the diapers together and etc.  In Amazon, that means going back and deleting everything and reentering by group.  It was a PIA but I think worth it.

Oops, I realized I can disable the guest book sign in (from the "edit my account" tab) so people don't have to give their email addresses.

We do have a local natural family living store with cloth diapers, but they don't have much selection. I was trying to just go for an assortment of types and sizes to see what works best for us, so I was looking for good starter packages. I will check out some other online shops, though...

Having things grouped by category would be great--I don't know if MyRegistry.com will let me do that? Now everything's by price. I might see what I can do.

Thanks for looking!

so i did delete one of the high chairs from my registry and now one shows up as fufilled and my sister told me my aunts got me one that wasn't on my registry so I am currently freaking out that I am going to end up with 2 high chairs, gah, I am going to double check with my sister, because she often gets things confused and I know that my aunt got my cousins big items and said she wasn't going to mark them off the registry, but did anyway. I told dh if anyone bought the high chair it was one of his friends i imagine, it was the biggest thing on my registry so I didn't expect anyone to get it for me other than my family. I will try to calm down, I get so worked up about parties that are for me, lol! As long as I get gift receipts everything should be okay..

Hi all, I just need to let everyone know what's going on with MyRegistry.com.  The supposed benefit of using the site is that you can add links/items from any online store, right?  Well, they have an automated system that will CHANGE some of your items to other stores they deem have "good customer service and shipping."  I had added a few things from a smaller localish retailer because I like to support small businesses and they have free shipping over a certain amount.  Well, the "automated system" changed a few of my items to amazon or their own MRBaby store.  I had a stroller picked out at Babies R Us, in a specific color, and the "automated system" changed the link to a similar stroller but a different color at amazon.com.

I've gone through all the trouble to add links from stores I wanted to shop from and rearrange them in a certain order. I wrote to them about what I had noticed, and they informed me of the automated system, and said they would remove my registry from that system so the links wouldn't change.  In order to fix it back to what I want, I would have to delete the items from the registry and re-add from the correct stores.  Needless to say, I'm pissed.  Isn't it the point of a registry to pick out exactly what you want, from where you want it?

Wow, that totally sucks WS!!  I tried that site a long time ago and, although I don't like Amazon either, I got a really bad vibe from MyRegistry.  They spamed the hell out of my email account and just bugged me.  Good heads up for sure!!

Yikes about MyRegistry! I haven't gotten any spam from them or noticed any changes, but I will be keeping an eye out...

They do have a good "unsubscribe" function Blanca and the design is much more elegant than Amazon so it's not all bad.  It's also really good that you were able to disable that feature that requires the e-mail account request.  None of the sites are ideal so I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad about MyRegsitry.  It's just good to know the ups and downs of each, ha?
