ooh, congrats on the new car! sad about your geo. i loved ours, but we decided to sell it when I got knocked up the first time. not a very safe car to haul such precious cargo. this time we're looking at hybrids, but holy heck they are expensive! we took a loan on our current car, but were able to pay it off within a few months. i don't think we'd be able to do the same with a hybrid loan. i hate being in debt; a mortgage is bad enough.

but i do still miss our geo. sigh.

Congrats on you all getting new cars! I'd love to get a van but we can do two kids in our Toyota Matrix just fine. It's Toyota's version of the Vibe (which was a collaborative project between the two manufacturers).

Today I got my diapers in the mail, and picked up my wrap. Unfortunately the wrap smells very strongly of perfumed detergent and had some dog hair on it so it's in the washing machine. I didn't want to try it out while it was stinky and dirty. :( Now all I'd really NEED to do is wash my dipes once, install the carseat and I could have a baby next week. Not that I want to, mind you. I'm only 27 weeks!

Blanca--sorry about your geo! I hope you weren't in it at the time :-/  Congrats on the new car, that's always exciting! And I definitely don't think the cosleeper and PNP are redundant. The baby will outgrow the cosleeper in a few months and it can be nice to have a place for him/her to nap/sleep at home or while traveling... you may never use it but it's nice to have just the same.

Nerdymom--how exciting to get diapers in the mail! And to be so close to ready, that's exciting too.

We bought a new (to us) car today too. Our honda was totaled a couple weeks ago in an accident, and we finally got the insurance check. I'd rather have my honda, but what can ya do. We've now replaced both our cars in the last 4 months. We traded our other for a minivan in Sept to have more room for baby (we got a chrysler town and country and LOVE it).

Well I spent the afternoon in l and d with contractions. They were two minutes apart when I got there. I've never had this before. They gave me a shot and procardia and it doesn't look like I'm dialting so that's good. I go back to the dr Monday. Hoping this is a one time thing!

Eeek! Were they able to figure out what started the contractions? Dehydration maybe?

How scary but I am glad you aren't dilating. Hope this is a one time thing too! hug.gif

Nerdymom: Oooo, what kind of dipes did you get? Yesterday I counted and arranged mine to make sure I have enough for the newborn stage. I prepped all of my prefolds but want to give them one last wash before storing them for baby's arrival. I hate it when I get something from someone and it's covered in hair. YUCK. I had bought a gorgeous tie dyed fitted dipe from a seller on HyenaCart and when it arrived it was just coated in dog hair. I can understand a stray hair here or there if you have pets but when it looks like the animal used the item as a bed... Ewwwww.

Well I ended up spending the night at the hospital. When I got home I had 10+ contractions in an hour so I went back and they admitted me for the night. They gave me another shot and put me on fluids. The contractions kept up during the night but they are not as strong and it doesn't look like I'm dilating. They put me on modified bedrest for the day and I go to the dr in the morning. This is crazy. I've never had this before! I'm so glad to be home though. I broke down crying during the night because I was hooked up to so much stuff and so uncomfortable. Poor DH had to sleep in one of those uncomfortable chairs. What a long night.

Stayseeliz-  I'm glad it sounds like they got your contractions to stop and you're not dilating.  Did they put you on bed rest?  I hope you can keep the LO in for a few more weeks!

ETA- I guess we posted at the same time, I hope you are ok and I'm sorry you had such a rough night.

Yesterday was a mixed bag for me.  I missed most of the prenatal yoga class because the secretary at the rec center told me they changed the time but they didn't.  And then DP and I had a pretty major blow up over something really dumb... I hate it when we fight, especially about stuff that doesn't matter.  But on a good note he did a ton of yard work and our house looks really nice.  I finished the soaker I was crocheting and started some longies.  My Mom sent us some of those family stick figure stickers for our new van and while I was outside putting them on the neighbor lady came over to tell me how adorable she thinks we are and how pretty I am when I'm pregnant and that she's super, super happy for us.  That was nice!  :)

I can't believe how many of us got new cars this weekend!  We are loving the Odyssey so far.  It's so spacious and the seats are really comfortable.  The kids love that the middle row seats recline and they like the "magic doors."  I love that the doors open by themselves too, that will be great when my hands are full of baby and groceries, etc..  My only complaint so far is that the speakers sound terrible.  It's like listening to AM radio, but we'll be able to put some new speakers in soon.

The baby had been very active this weekend.  I've gotten a few good kicks that have really made me jump.  The other night I felt a poke above my bellybutton then it slid across my belly and down to my hip bone.  I  haven't gotten a big movement like that before.  DP got to feel it and we were really excited.

I'm starting to feel like I should be doing more baby prepping, but I also feel like I need to wait until after the shower next weekend.  I'll see what we get at the shower then I'll be trolling the local consignment shops for whatever we still need.  I really want to buy some clothes!

Blanca - I forgot I wanted to say we have a cosleeper and a pack'n'play and I do NOT think they are redundant at all. We have the arms reach cosleeper mini and that thing is a bear to take down. I dread it. If anything, If we were really crunched on space I would ditch both of the things we have in a heartbeat and buy a nice pack n play with the bassinet and keep that by our bed, but since we have the space we have what we have. Also, the packnplay is nice for if you have friends who bring their young babies over. Just 'ware of moms who will try to CIO a nap at your house. I have a friend who asks every time if the pack n play is set up cause she wants to give the baby a nap. I know she does CIO so I always say no it is packed away.

Stacey - I'm so sorry! I hope everything is alright and that you are able to figure out what's going on. I hope you have good help around while you are on bedrest!

Lauren - I bought Sunbaby 4.0 diapers. http://www.sunbabydiapers.com/ I have some prefolds and thirsties duos and I am planning to make some fitteds and fleece soakers. That should keep me well stocked. After I picked up my wrap yesterday I wished I had paid her an extra $10 to ship it. I didn't appreciate seeing where my wrap had come from. It was dirty. Not untidy, but actually dirty. With an odor strong enough to turn my stomach. And I stood outside the front door the whole time. *shudder* When I took the wrap out of the bag there was grit and dirt on the bottom of the bag. When you are selling something you would think to clean it up, right?

Deirdre - I know what you mean about clothes. I'm supposed to be getting a whole bunch from a friend of mine, and I cannot wait. I know I will keep some but not all, I'll sell or give away the rest. And I will probably buy a special baptism outfit. We didn't have a gown for DS1 but I'm thinking about buying one for the other babies. Of course they are quite expensive, so I might make one instead, but I don't normally do anything that fine or delicate so I'm worried it will look tacky. I'm trying to avoid doing too much with the actual baby gear because if I do I know I will be antsy and anxious with nothing to do come April!

Both of my babies have just loved the organ at church. DS2 was just thumping and bumping around in there most joyfully today. The sound must carry nicely in the womb. Does anyone else assign moods to their baby? DH thinks it's funny when I say DS is happy, or mad, or hungry. I just have this *feeling*, associated with the movements sometimes. It is sometimes distinctly different than the mood I'm in. Like this morning in the car I was having a nice conversation with DH and DS2 was ticked off that I was wearing pants with elastic across the tummy. I had to fold it down because it annoyed him so much!

Stayseeliz--hug.gifhug.gifhug.gif Thank goodness you are not dilating! I'm so sorry you had such a rough night--it must have been so frightening on top of being physically uncomfortable. I hope those contractions stay far, far away.

Thanks for the Geo love, ladies. I'm bereft--she was my first car. I've had her 11 years and she has seen me through hard winters in Minnesota, New Hampshire, Iowa, and now Ohio with nary a complaint. Driven me all over the country, and still trucking along like a champ, despite the rust and dings. Oh well, I guess the snow plow made the decision for me. That said, I LOVE the Vibe. I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse--I don't think we got a bad deal, but I think we could have done better. We spent a bit more than we'd planned on. But I love the car--it's so comfortable to drive and handles so well and is super cute.

I'm stressing right now because we own a house in another state (bought in 2005, couldn't have sold without losing $$, so we're trying to ride it out as landlords). Anyway, got a notice today that their electric/gas is going to be shut off because of nonpayment, and then it turns out their rent has been late (just by three days, but still) the last two months, and our property manager can't get ahold of them. I'm just so worried that the heat will be shut off and the pipes will freeze and the tenants are obviously having trouble keeping up with bills--this happened once before, a couple months ago, and all was resolved but still it worries me that it's happening again. It's just more stress in a time when all I want to do is enjoy getting ready for my baby and focusing on my writing. I get so anxious--I feel seized by dread any time anything comes up, even though we've never had major problems before. I HATE being a landlord, feeling like our financial stability is tied to someone else's. There's so much trust involved.

Anyway--sorry for that side rant. Just had to get it out of my system.

Thanks for the kind words! It's nice to be home. If I am on bedrest for any length of time I do have help. We live around the corner from my in-laws and my SIL's so that's a big relief. They met us at the hospital the first time we had to go yesterday and my SIL was over in 10 minutes the second time we had to leave. We can also call our neighbors if we had to go FAST in the middle of the night. The hospital is 25 minutes away so it's nice to know we have help that could come quickly.

Last night was awful. All the monitors and the IV made is impossible to sleep. And with my anterior placenta they were having a hard time picking up baby's heartbeat. They had to put it up high or low and she'd kick it off fast. Then they'd have to come in and spend another 10-15 minutes trying to find it again. It made me even more determined to do whatever it takes to stay at home as much as possible. So if bedrest is what it takes then that's what I'll do. I had preeclampsia with my 3yo and survived 6 weeks on bedrest so I know I can do it again.

The contractions are better but not gone. If I'm on my feet for more than 5-10 minutes they pick up again. We'll see what the dr says in the morning. It might have had something to do with being dehydrated but I'm floating from the fluids they gave me last night and all the liquid I've had today and still having them. Not nearly as bad but I just don't know. I hope they can figure out what's going on. This is odd for me.

I'll try to answer personals tomorrow. I'm off to bed. Night!

Stacey- Did they do a fetal fibronectin or an ultrasound for cervical length (even better!) Are the contractions painful or are you just noticing them as being there?  Sometimes you just have contractions and although they are uncomfortable they really are no harm to anything if they are not causing any cervical change.  Theree is nothing worse than being stuck in L&D overnight on monitors.  Keep us posted!

They did both the ffn and an ultrasound. The ffn was negative and the ultrasound showed mycervix was at 3.5 and nice and long so he said that was good. I think they're going to recheck that today. The contractions were awful on Saturday. I thought I was coming down with the flu or a virus or something stomach related but then I noticed they were regular. Now they are uncomfortable but not painful. Off to the dr in a bit. I'll update later.

Blanca, I hope the tenant situation resolves quickly, that sounds like a headache to deal with from another state!

Stacey, I hope you get more good news about no cervical change today, it must have been scary to have to go the the hospital twice!  Here's hoping that little girl stays put for a few more weeks!

Holley, :( about the dirty wrap.  I love getting deals on things by buying used, but it does sometimes gross me out, you really have no idea how it was cared for or where it comes from.  I hope your wrap comes nice and clean when you wash it (which definitely should have been done before the lady sold it to you!).

I am 30 weeks today, it's hard to believe 3/4 of this pg is done already.  Baby is active and it's getting easier to feel distinct body parts dependsing on how he is sitting (I can' t tell what body part each one is, but his little elbows and knees are pretty bony!).  The kids are getting excited, my 3.5yo keeps asking me if he is going to come out and I have to explain that it will be a while still.

We've gotten our baby essentials bought or ordered, the only things left that I need are a boppy and a manual avent isis pump -- that thing always worked so well for me!  I'm putting off all the washing b/c if I do it now the clothes and dipes will be covered in dog hair again by the time he comes!

No cervical change today so it looks like no dilating! Very glad about that. The dr wants me on bedrest until 32 weeks as a precaution since I'm still contracting regularly then we'll go from there. They did a quick u/s and she's already 3 1/2 lbs with a head full of hair. I'm such a wimp. These constant contractions are wearing me out. Off to take a nap.

Stacey - glad to hear that things are going well.  Hopefully bedrest will make the contractions go away.  You're not a wimp, BTW, you yourself said you're contracting like crazy, it's bound to wear you out!

Nadia - I'm so jealous that you have most of your stuff ready!  Most of my newborn clothing and items are in storage at my parent's place, 2 hours from home.  I had an isis pump with DS and love it.  I had to switch to a medela PIS with DD because I was pumping full time.

I woke up to a leg cramp this am.  Not happy about it. Thankfully it was over quickly.

Me, too, but my shower isn't until the 12th.  I can't wait until it's over and I can buy the necessary items that we don't get as gifts!  ;)

Stacy you better get some rest! And let your family take care of you! I will find where you live and strap you down young lady!!!!

Hope everyone else is doing good.

I can not believe I am 30 weeks today. I remember peeing on that stick like it was yesterday!

I'm starting to get in that 'last stretch miserableness'..lol. Lungs are being over taken...stomach doesn't stretch like I wished it did=can't eat as much greensad.gif ahahhaha! Gods way of keeping me from blowing up? Lol tired. It's hard chasing a toddler and being pg...could be harder if I didn't have such great kids.

Vie added yet ANOTHER thing to my 'to do list'...DD is wanting to go to school...so I'm searching for a Christian or private school. its exhausting me reading over all their website info. But well worth it if it's what my DD wants.

My latest mantra....make it at least 8 more weeks!

Oh yeah and my tank tops are getting to short. Lol DH says he loves that part of my pg...oh dear. smile.gif

I think I'm going to put myself on bed rest...my BH are getting more regular and stronger. I laid around the house today without a single BH...I usually get way more a day than I should be at this point...which I did with DS as well and the MW's I was seeing put me on modified bed rest.

Oh boy. Just got home from L&D, they gave me a shot to stop some regular contrax I was having. I was feeling strong painful ones every 7 minutes or so but the monitors were showing them every two minutes. No cervical changes. Swabs all normal. I was on the monitors for 2 hours and good grief those horrible beds are so uncomfortable!! That was not an experience I would like to have again. I had strong BH all during my last pregnancy, but not painful like these were. Yuck. I really hope we don't end up back in there. It did motivate me to get this house in ship shape RIGHT NOW in case I end up on bed rest later on. I've been lax in the house cleaning sector the past week, I've been playing with my sewing machine and crochet hook too much. This place goes straight down the toilet if I'm not on top of it day in and day out!

My hard drive crashed so I've been without the computer for a week.  I'm trying to catch up with all of you!  I can pull up my email at work, but for some reason the firewalls think that Mothering isn't a productive use of my time.  Silly computer geeks...what do they know!

I'm at 28 weeks.  Just barely passed my glucola at 133.  She's had me check my bs anyways.  I have a fasting at 92 and a 2 hour post prandial at 118.  So far she's OK with those numbers.

It's been busy at work on Friday and yesterday.  Then the terrible roads compounded everything.  Today will be just as bad, but I see a glimmer of hope tomorrow.  I'll be home for the afternoon while DH gets a root canal which means I'm on driving duty for pick up and drop off of our crazy afterschool schedule.

Baby was laying transverse at the appointment yesterday.  I get an u/s in 2 weeks because I have a low lying placenta they want to check on and because the baby was measuring quite large at the 20 week u/s.  I think this will be a 9# baby and as much as I love being pg and don't mind going to 41+ weeks, I'm really thinking that this baby could come a week early.

Off to drink plenty of water and so should the rest of you!  Way too many contractions going on!
