Here are some blog posts on the topic:

I did a tiny bit of preventative stuff with DS (probiotics and vaginal garlic) and tested negative. It is important to me to have a negative result on record in case we transfer to the hospital. This time I will be doing a more in-depth regimen very similar to the one in that last link from Maria Iorillo except with Echinacea tea and garlic cloves instead of capsules.

Mama to DS1 (12/07), DS2 (4/11), and DD (6/22/14)
Finally diagnosed with APS after 3 s (11/09, 3/10, 7/13)

and the pediatricians will like you to get at least 2 doses.  not really about the doses- more about the time frame.  unless you have penicillin allergy they give you ampicillin (at least thats standard here) they give you 2 gm dose initially and then 1gm q 4hrs while in labor.  If you don't get the 2nd dose sometimes more conservative peds will do blood work and/or treat the baby.  Some REALLY conservative peds will do bloodwork and treat the baby anyway even if someone is in labor for 24 hours and got a gazillion doses.

My midwife mentioned something about washing my vag with hibiclens?? lol.gif I don't know if it's preventative or what. I probably wont do the test as the chance of baby contracting GBS is extremely small even if I test positive for it myself.
