Announcing Elizabeth Katherine who was born at 6:47am on Monday March 14th after my waters broke suddenly at 10pm Sunday night! She was s little ahead from the April 2nd due date that we expected but weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs 12 oz. Things went fast and furious though she made me really work to get her out because her head was not tucked to her chest like we would have liked.
I'm super proud of how things went and thrilled that our homebirth plan worked out! I had a bit of a hemorrhage afterwards and needed a few stitches (small 2nd degree perianal and a labial tear) but the midwives were right on the ball with everything and handled it all very well. DH did an awesome job, even with being pretty freaked out by the amount of blood loss. Being my first baby I totally expected her to be late, not early! Clearly she had her own plans!
We're working on breastfeeding, have the cloth diapers going, and family is helping to pick up all the stuff we had planned to buy in the next 3 weeks. I'm feeling a bit more like myself today and less dizzy (blood loss effects) and hope to see the rest of the house, not just the bedroom and bath, in the next few days, lol!
Jordana, mama to almost 8 year old Evan, 3 year old Atticus, and 1 year old Tabitha - my gifts from heaven
Congrats on your little girl and on your homebirth!!! Take good care of yourself and enjoy your babymooon!! I bled quite a bit with my first and recovery was a little slow; I found that the more I would rest, the better I felt. Don't be afraid to let other people take care of everything else. You have that sweet baby to love on now :D
Oh wow! Congratulations I can't believe babies are already coming! Goodness is it really time? Oh my! Love on that little one. I'm so glad things went well for you and baby.
