Could you switch my date for me? My due date has been moved from May 22nd to May 26th. I'm not completely convinced we won't move it again, but that's where it is for now.

Mama to Alaric, my beautiful rainbow1284.gif -- born 4 weeks early on 7/3/11 at 7lb4oz.

When you say rural NY what do you mean? I am in St. Lawrence County. I don't think you can get much more rural than that!

-Birth plans/preferences: was hoping to waterbirth, but hospital here prohibits it, although i am permitted to labor in water barring any unforseen circumstances. going with a midwife this time and i am very excited about that! i was considering home birth, but i am really scared of being in an emergency situation and i cannot get myself past that. i love that it is becoming more prevalent, though!
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: i had a miscarriage in august and we decided to stop trying for a while due to financial/job issues. there were literally 2 times we threw caution to the wind during labor day weekend, and here we are! i have been really nervous about miscarrying again and am anxious to get a bit further along to ease that nervousness. also, i am new to mothering.com, i've posted a few times in the last few months, still finding my way around.

Hi there!

-Name: nk
-Age: 35
-EDD: late May, but my first was 1 1/2 weeks late...so it could be June (I'm probably going to spend a little time in both the May & June DDCs because of this)
-Location: SF Bay Area
-1st child/2nd/3rd...: second
-Family: i live with my husband, my 2-year-old daughter, and two 2-month-old kitties joined the household yesterday
-Baby's gender: no clue, and I'm working on not caring so long as the baby is healthy (not to say I don't have a preference deep down, but I'm trying not to encourage it)
-Names: no ideas yet!
-Birth plans/preferences: using the nurse midwife who delivered my first, and am planning to deliver at the same hospital
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: The note/into I posted to the June DDC by accident (before deciding it probably wasn't such a bad idea to spend time on both boards) is below:

I'm a little surprised to be here on MDC again. I got two positive results on Wednesday night using home pregnancy tests, though we haven't been trying. I haven't posted much (at all?) here since my first was born.

I haven't been to see my midwife yet, but I did go to my general practitioner's office yesterday to get yet another test since I still can't quite believe I'm pregnant (the dr. was clearly humoring me, told me that false positives are extremely rare, and congratulated me as she wrote out the order for the lab test).

I'm a little dubious of the dates I get using EDD calculators, as my period never really returned to being normal since I started getting it again about 6-8 mos ago--still, the EDD I keep coming up with is May 22.

A little about me: I'm married, a mama of a just-turned 2-year-old girl that I'm still bfing, I work outside the home, and live in the SF Bay Area in a wonderful interfaith, multiracial family.

It's sort of random, but the title of a book by one of the rabbis I studied with for conversion has been echoing in my head the last few days: This is real and you are completely unprepared. The book is about the High Holidays, but man....it sure does apply to how I feel right about now.

I'm actually quite happy to be sure, btw--this is pregnancy is not an unhappy thing. Just unexpected and definitely sooner than we were envisioning for our second.

Anyway...hello all!

-Age: (we're all friends here) 30 (31 in January)
-EDD: (early or late may will suffice) May 30
-Location: (be as specific or as vague as you'd like) Independence, MO
-1st child/2nd/3rd...: 3rd
-Family: (partner, other children, and/or pets) Dh Micah, DD Sofi 4, DS Walter 2
-Baby's gender: (hopes and/or guesses) I feel like it's a girl, but time will tell. We will be happy either way.
-Names: (c'mon, we won't steal 'em) DD named the baby "Lorraine" for now, but understands that will change when we find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. If a girl, probably Elizabeth Lorraine, boy probably Charles William. I would prefer William Charles, but dh thinks Walter and William will be too cumbersome.
-Birth plans/preferences: Midwife assisted homebirth
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: (we're gonna be here for a while) Hi! Happy to be here!

Kellie - Mama to Sofi (06), Walter (08), and Baby "Lorraine" due May 30, 11.

I am way late doing this, have been posting on here since the the May DDC went up, but I guess I am a little superstitious and didn't want to make it official (truth be told, I still am a little :P)

Name: bluepetals
Age: 35
EDD: May 3
-Location: eastern Canada
-1st child/2nd/3rd: 3rd child, and final one, we are pretty sure
-Family: DH is 37, we have two boys aged 5 and 2.5
-Baby's gender: No idea. DH thinks it's a girl. I am alot sicker than the previous two, which of course means nothing, but I have myself wondering if maybe it's a girl, too
-Names: undecided
-Birth plans/preferences: Hoping for a midwife-attended home birth. DS2 was born at home, DS1 was a drug-free hospital birth with a family doc.
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: My 5 year old keeps talking about having twins. Then the other night I had a dream I had twins. Oh dear.

LOL, apparently I am in denial about my age..?? I am 36, not 35 (my birthday is in August, so maybe my internal clock is hanging onto my last-year age still?)!!

-Baby's gender: A lot of my friends say ‘girl’ because I have been so sick
-Names: no idea
-Birth plans/preferences: I would like a homebirth but it is more $$$ and DH thinks our apartment is too small.
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: I was just diagnosed with pityriasis rosea (its a rash caused by an unknown virus) and there is some scary info on the web about it causing miscarriage/abortion etc. My Dr. said not to worry because they never heard of any pregnancy complications. But I will probably be a little worried until I am holding my baby in my arms. On a lighter note I am psyched to join you all because last time around I had no pregnant or mama friends at all. Having this DDC is really neat.

-1st child/2nd/3rd...: 4th!
-Family: DH- 32, DS1- 5, DS2- 3, DD- 15 months atm, 2 dogs.
-Baby's gender: We are working on the assumption it's a girl but clearly have no idea for sure!
-Names: DH is calling her Molly at the moment.
-Birth plans/preferences: Well I would prefer to have a homebirth but this will be my 4th c-section! First baby was breech, 2nd I was just naive and didn't do a VBAS, 3rd was breech and low amniotic fluid and I don't think there is anyone under the sun who would VBAC a 3 time c-section mama.
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: Can't believe I'm here! I had always wanted a fourth but was in the process of trying to talk myself out of it due to my stage 3 melanoma diagnosis in Nov. I haven't even made it to my 1 year NED (no evidence of disease) so I'm definitely a bit worried that the pregnancy will cause my melanoma to return and that they won't be able to treat me until after I deliver. Thankfully not a normally pregnancy concern but my reality none-the-less. But we are excited for this baby who will be the grand finale for us. And trying to trust God that all will work out just fine.

Jess ~mom to DS1 8/05, DS2 6/07, DD 7/09 and one surprise 5/11!

Hi,

My name is Marti, and I am 43. My EDD is May 8th. I live in Little Rock, Arkansas and this will be my 5th child. We have had 4 beautiful homebirths. The last three have been water births, and we plan to have another home/water birth. My 3 sons want us to have a boy and my one daughter wants a little girl. I will be very happy with either Mary Margaret or Mark Michael.

I had a miscarriage at 5 and 1/2 weeks in Feb. of this year, so I have been hesitant to join the due date club. But, I am 11 and 1/2 weeks now, and I am gaining confidence.

Congratulations everyone. I look forward to getting to know you over the coming months.

Marti, Wife to DH of 10 years, Mother to DS9, DS8, DD5, DS2 and precious baby in my womb.

-Baby's gender: I am guessing a boy, but happy with either!
-Names: I like the name Grace for a girl, not sure on the boy yet. Need to start looking for names
-Birth plans/preferences: Hospital, wish I could with a midwife at a birth center, there is not a birth center in my area though so not an option where I live. Due to bleeding issues I am nervous about a home birth. Going to avoid having my water broken and see if this time I will be allowed to labor more naturally.
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: We were surprised completely about baby #2, but we are really really excited. I wasn't sure with my thyroid and PCOS I would have anymore. So we are over the moon

-1st child/2nd/3rd...: #2
-Family: DH and DD-2.5yrs
-Baby's gender: DH wants a boy but it really doesn't matter to me. I think it's a girl though!
-Names: i have a girls name that i love but i'm not sure that DH likes it. we haven't discussed names yet this time around. i have no idea for a boy
-Birth plans/preferences: i would love a homebirth but my family is so against it. DD was born in a hospital with a midwife and it was a WONDERFUL experience.... waterbirth, no drugs, no ivs. but we've moved and although the local hospital does have midwives, they don't offer waterbirth and you just never know with a hospital. luckily, i tend to have quick, easy labors so as long as nothing stalls, the hospital should be fine.
-Absolutely anything else under the sun: i was pregnant with identical twin boys exactly this time last year. they were mono/mono and unfortunately their cords tangled at 21 weeks. so this is our rainbow baby and i'm really hoping for a less stressful pregnancy!

happily married mama to DD1 4/08, angel2.gif angel2.gif12/31/09, and DD2 5/11

-It will be a surprise. No "feelings" yet. But hoping for another son.
-Want to fit Dean in somehow if its a boy in honor of my Grandfather who died last year
-Homebirth w/ midwife
-Sicker/hungrier/more tired this time around. Ugh! Not easy with 3 little ones keeping me busy. Also getting big way earlier-that seems to be the territory when you pass 2 or 3 pregnancies.
