I just threw up.  Yeah, I know, not a big deal to 99% of people (especially pregnant women), but I'm a total emetophobe (fear of vomit/vomiting).  We moved away from my family a year ago (they're in WA, I'm in So Cal) and my husband is halfway around the world... and I just feel like I'm losing it.  I'm so scared I'm sick and it's going to happen again... I don't think it was anything I ate.  I did take a Zofran afterward.  I have to be able to function to take care of my 8 year old and almost 5 year old.  I swear I can handle just about anything... but not this. :(

*hug*  I wish I had some words of wisdom on other tips to avoid getting sick again, but all I have to offer is empathy and virtual hugs.  I hope the Zofran works for you, and it was just a one time thing.

My sister has emetophobia, so I can understand a bit.  Hopefully it was just a fluke.

I'm sorry! Even if you weren't an emetophobe, throwing up is no fun. Here's hoping that it was a one time thing.

If you're worried about throwing up in the future, this is what helped me during my early nauseous phase.

http://www.babyhopes.com/nausea-relief-tincture.html

I put a dropper full or two under my tongue when I felt queasy and it really helped. I never ended up throwing up even though I felt like it for about two months in my first trimester. Just having it around in my purse made me feel better about going out when I couldn't stand the smell of anything. I get a nervous stomach from stress, so maybe some calm herbal tea with honey and some relaxing couch time (if you can manage it with having to take care of the two kids on your own) will help out.

Hope you feel better!

My sympathy, mama... I have HG this time, and I'm a huge emetophobe. When my kids get sick I have to *leave the house* otherwise I will faint when I hear that little choke or heave. It scares the @#*% out of me. When I'm throwing up I have panic attacks, I cry, I shake, I faint, my throat closes off and I see stars. It's awful. I have nothing but sympathy for anyone else dealing with the same thing. :(

Thank you, EVERYone, for the support, kind words, and suggestions!

I think it was a fluke.  I had forgotten to take a medication the night before (Paxil) and while I normally can make it longer than that before experiencing "withdrawal" I'm wondering if the increased blood volume with pregnancy and just everything else that goes along with pregnancy made me less able to tolerate that.  I did take it late that morning, but maybe it hadn't caught up with me yet.  As I mentioned, I did take Zofran afterward (4 mg) and then I did have some water, graham crackers (one with a little peanut butter), and some applesauce... I was STARVING... and then, just in case, I took one more 4 mg Zofran before bed (it had been 8+ hours since the first dose by that point)... and yesterday I was fine.  The kids seem to be fine too *knock on wood.*

littleteapot... HEG would be my worst nightmare.  BIG hugs to you.  I can't imagine how challenging that must be for you.

I did go to the grocery store and stock up on Gatorade, Jell-O, and crackers just in case, yesterday. ;)
