I've been 50% effaced for over 5 weeks now...I'm 2 cm...any ideas besides EPO, sex, and walking to help efface?  I'm 39 weeks and just so done...

Try being just done 2 weeks ago and 40+ lol.gif

I've heard of borage oil as well. You got lots of time still. Try to relax. (I know, easier said than done.) '

Oh and that is one of the reasons I'm glad no one checked my cervix and I couldn't figure it out. It just doesn't mean that much until labor starts. I mean it's fine to know but as we've seen from others on here. You can be anywhere from 0-5 cm and still not be in labor! And effacement is good and all but it can happen way ahead of time or just a little before labor.

Try to hang in there. :)

I agree. I'm also feeling very done but am only 38w5d. I'm also 2cm and 80% effaced...which I know for me really doesn't mean anything(except that I'm progressing without being in the pains of labor)...this is my 4th and I've dilated early with all of them and they've all come right around their due dates.

And evening primrose oil inserted vaginally or sex may help effacement as well as they soften the cervix.

Hugs mama.

I agree: take it easy and relax. You cannot force your body to do something it isn't ready to do. Your baby isn't here for a good reason, this isn't a flaw in your body, this is your body working hard to ensure your baby is healthy. :)  Also, effacement and dilation can change very quickly and mean very little about how imminent or far away labour is. Don't stress it! Tell your care providers to keep their hands out of there until you're well into labour from now on so you can keep a calm, cool head and stay positive. :)
