Well, I really thought I had until 42 weeks to try for my VBAC, but it seems that my blood pressure is slowly creeping up.

I am 40+5 today and my last doctors appointment my blood pressure was 140/80. It has been 120/75 religiously at every appointment previously. We decided one high pressure didn't mean much and they said to try to take it easy this week.

Well yesterday I hadn't been feeling the baby move much and they told me that I should come in to get him checked. His heartrate was lower than usual (130 instead of the 145-150 it normally is) So they checked my blood pressure again and it was 150/85. They had me rest for 15 minutes and then it was back down to 130/75 again...so they think that it is stress related and not pre-e, especially since I have not other signs of that.

However, they are now saying that I need to really start trying to get this baby out. I can't be induced medically, so she wants me to do everything possible naturally. I have had three appointments with an induction massage specialist who does induction accupressure. My husband and I are making love as much as we can with my overdue belly and a 3 1/2 year old running around. I have been using my breast pump everyday, and I have been walking and dancing to try to get things moving. I am only dilated to 1cm so they can't do a membrane sweep at this point.

Yesterday my midwife said to drink 120ml of Milk of Magnesia (They don't have castor oil here, so that is what they use) and then chase it with two 8 oz. glasses of OJ...and I have started with Oregnao/Basil tea (Which they also recommend for natural induction here)

So today I am having a ton of diarrhea, but still no contractions.

So at this point, my body is really just not ready...and she is telling me that if none of these things work and I don't go into labor on my own by 41 weeks (two more days) and my blood pressure is still high, they will have to "go to the next level" which, if I am still not dilated any more, will mean a RCS.

Sadly, while I am supposed to be relaxing and keeping my blood pressure down, this is jsut stressing me out more, and then on top of it all...DH and I got into an arguement this morning about DD and I spent 20 minutes crying before we decided there is just too much stress going on in this house...

So I am really needing prayers and support right now, and any other ideas for natural induction you might have. I know that nothing will work as long as things are not ready, but I am really hoping to avoid the RCS and I know my body knows what it is doing and want to trust in that.

Thanks,

Cerise

I don't know of any other natural induction methods besides what you have mentioned. I will keep you in my thoughts, though, and hope contractions start realllly soon. I never dilated more than a cm before going into labor so the lack of dilation doesn't really mean anything at this point. I guess they can't get in there and break your water either? If you're already on the clock I'd possibly ask about that.

Try to relax and keep that blood pressure down, sweetie. I know it's easier said than done. Maybe go for a massage.

Thanks Evergreen! I think right now, the thoughts are really the most helpful for me.

Oh, so been there, done that with the BP creep.  *hug* Just having it start to creep stresses me and makes the top number creep more, just like yours is doing...bottom one was staying within the 80s (the "we're not worried till it hits at least 90" zone!), and the top one was higher at every appointment for three appointments in a row.

We tried a stretch and sweep when I was 1 cm (not because of BP concerns, more just cause I felt ready and we had a a bit of a deadline on the availability of our place of birth)...she couldn't sweep but just pulling the cervix anterior and stretching it a little brought baby down a little bit, and started up some bloody show.  I went into labour about 36 hours later.  So even attempting it without the sweep might be worth a try...?

Sending you resting, relaxing vibes.  If it makes you feel any better, my BP in labour went back down to 120s over 70s, just where it had been the whole pregnancy...finally I was in labour, baby was coming, and I could just go with it and not be stressed.  I hope the same happens for you very soon!

Thanks for sharing BluePetals....yes, it is just the top number, so that's how we know it is stress related. It doesn't help when every person I know and their brother wants to know why they haven't just taken the baby out already! So I have stopped talking to people. I told them I will call when the baby is born and they won't hear from me until then. I have stepped away from Facebook and am just focusing on relaxing and really connecting to my LO and knowing that everything will be okay.

I have an appointment on Monday and I will ask her to do a stretch and sweep if she can. Ironically enough, I was very worried a month ago, because my main midwife was leaving the country for two weeks, the week before my due date and the week after and now tomorrow she comes back into town. So maybe I have just been waiting for her.

Anyway, thank you again and I will keep everyone posted.

Congrats again to all who are on the other side!

Cerise

how about a bumpy car ride? I heard that might do it....or rrl tea? I ahve a friend tell me that she takes a warm bath to relax and that sends her into labor.

That is ridiculous. My blood pressure starts creeping up at the end with all of my pregnancies so far. Did this time around too. I went to 41 weeks or 41+2 if you go by their incorrect EDD.

I don't think that it is worth the docs/mw worrying about unless the bottom number gets up there and you guys are showing other signs of distress. I had a pressure of 140 over 80 something a few days before I gave birth. I had lower BP readings in the middle of my pregnancy. It just always works like that for me.

I think they just want your baby out and will take any excuse probably. That sucks.

Dayiscoming - I agree...I don't show any other signs of problems...except their faulty scale showed I gained two lbs in a week, and yesterday showed I had lost same two lbs in the last 3 days...LOL

I had a little talk with my LO today and just let him know that we are getting to that point and if he is ready, then we need to do this thing! I am going to do the bumpy ride tonight and then on Monday will ask for the stretch and sweep and see how that goes. I think I can get them to hold off on a C-section until this coming Friday...which is still 6 days away and is only a couple of days before I turn 42 weeks...so that should give him a really good chance of coming in his own time.

Thanks for all the help Mama's!

hey mama--- ddcc cos i love to see the birth stories of all the new little ones coming into the world right now. mine will be here toward the end of summer. joy.gif

i would love to thromw out there a few things. one, i totally held off having my second daughter while my facorite midwife was out of town. sure, it could have been baby's own timing, but i liked one midwife more then the other, and really wanted her presence to be the dominant one (if you could call her dominant AT ALL)

second, try wacthing a super sappy and emotional movie. have a really good cry. not one that is stress related--- but let it out, sister.

third, i truly believe there is something to eating spicy food. maybe because it helps to clear you out? but this has definitely helped to spark labor in me.

you are going to have your baby in your arms so soon. talking to babe, letting him (?) know that you are ready and the time is now, is really wonderful. maybe you could arrange a quiet hike by yourself (not too far out, but enough to let the quiet get into you)  ?

just some ideas. sending you sweet, productive labor vibes. goodvibes.gif

Thanks everyone! We are heading to the Birthing Center now to get checked and see if there is something that needs to be done to move things along.

I have been having steady contractions since yesterday afternoon. They have not stopped, and are now getting a bit stronger and a little closer together. They are every 10-12 minutes and lasting 45 second to a minute each. They feel like strong menstrual cramps, so I feel like they are not painful enough to have me dilated very far, but I feel like they are doing something.

Everyone keeps saying that at one point they will really pick up and things can go fast from there, so my midwife is wanting to check and see if I am dilating and how much, and if she can strip my membranes to keep things moving, she will.

Funny enough, she has been out of town for two weeks and we all just knew she would be gone for the birth and I would have to use the backup midwife...but she arrived yesterday afternoon, around the time I started having contractions!

I am 41 weeks today, so really hoping this is the real thing!

Just got back...not in active labor, but am 2cm and she can stretch me to 3cm. She stretched and swept my membranes and am having stronger contractions now...so will go back once they get heavier and closer together!

Thanks for the Labor vibes!

well, I am still here. My midwife did a second "sweep" and that got the contractions going over there, but they have petered out.

SO, I decided to walk around the house (since my dh...is against me going shopping....he thinks I might explode out there;). I started to have contractions while walking outside. Then I get a phone call from my midwife asking how I was feeling......my mw just cut her hand across the palm and needs to go get stitches....ai yi yi!!! So, anywho, she is on her way to  get them stitched and has called a backup mw....for the birth, but wanted to know if I needed one now.

I have the room all set up, my hubby has been keeping things tidy all day (God bless his heart) and I finally got over my sleepies....this should be interesting.

So, I am now 11 days overdue..... put a fork in me I am done...the melon is "thump thump"is ripe!

Oh Man, so sorry! Yeah, I got the stretch and sweep and now I am having less contractions than I was before...I just now have an odd one here or there. I went grocery shopping for all the things I want in the house for while I am gone at the birthing center and for us after we get back...and had two in the grocery store. It sucks when you feel like your contractions are just getting good and then the stop...I have to keep reminding myself that my body is working in it's own time...but sometimes that is hard to remember, especially when we are on a timer. My c-section will be scheduled for Tuesday and week from tomorrow because I am a VBAC...so we have to get these things moving like soon!

Sending you good labor vibes and hoping you get back into some good strong contractions that end in you holding your precious LO!

thanks for all the labor vibes. Well it is 10:48 and still nothing...contraction here there everywhere but nothing concrete. I think I will take some tylenol, a warm shower and go to bed. Maybe by morning? She said if this doesn't work ,we are moving on to castor oil...oh yuck!
