Our little miss arrived just after midnight on May 24th. She weighed in at 8lbs, 12oz for my biggest baby yet. She was 20in long and so sweet, peaceful, and alert.
She was born at home after a labor that went from nothing to baby in my arms in just a few hours! In some ways it was similar to my last baby's labor so I knew to get in the tub - so we had a lovely water birth.
She has a little barrel chest, bigger around than her head, so I really had to push even after her head was born. Totally worth that extra push. Her birth was amazing on so many levels and I felt so conscious and right there with the end of it - feeling her bag of waters bulging, then feeling the waters break and her head coming down to be born right then, then rubbing her head as I waited for another contraction to push out her body. It was such pure, fantastic effort. I feel blessed with another great homebirth! And even more blessed by being allowed the chance to nurture another beautiful newborn. I am going to try and write out her full birth story in the days to come :)
My birth bead necklace was right there with us as we danced the birth dance and I thank you lovely ladies for the strength you sent with your beads!
Here's Honor at 3 days old:
thank you gals!
