I've been hesitant to jump into the DDC so far because I just haven't had a good feeling about this pregnancy. Just as I'm starting to feel better, I get my 17 dpo HCG and progesterone values back. Progesterone = 8.2, HCG = 42. I went in today to have blood drawn for repeat values (19 dpo) and I should get the results tomorrow morning.

Can anyone give me any hope, or is there none to be had? My OB's office said that it was probably just because it's still so early, but from checking online, things look pretty dismal given these numbers. I kind of feel like my HCG lagged a bit in picking up. I've been obsessively testing (because the second test I took a day or two after the BFP didn't look any darker), and I feel like I'm just now starting to get darker lines--though I know you can't necessarily read a lot into line darkness. Also, I'm still BFing my 2 year old, and that can impact progesterone, right?

I am so exhausted (DD is getting her 2-year molars and sleep is barely happening), but I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight...

Personally i'd suggest to the OB you want to be put on progesterone supplements.

My progesterone level at 15dpo was 8. My beta was 133.9

After 3 nights of being on progesterone and a wk from the first time it was drawn my progesterone as 22.79 and my beta was 1385.0

I'm on 100 MG Progestone suppositories vaginally 1x a night.

Your beta is in the normal range i would try not to worry about it unless it hasn't changed much with the beta draw from today at 19dpo.

I know it's hard, but try not to read too much into hcg numbers. (See, I can say this now because I spent the whole weekend reading about it after getting a result of 12 on Thursday. On Monday it was 133.) There is a broad range. This 2nd number will be telling.

I would read absolutely nothing into the darkness of the line on a HPT.

Hang in there. Hopefully you'll get the good news you want tomorrow!

Thanks for the reassurance, guys. FWIW, I tested after I got home from work today, and holy moly are the lines darker now (yes, I know, you can't really read that much into it). I will be shocked if the HCG hasn't gone up at least some. If the progesterone is still low and they don't suggest a supplement themselves, you can bet that I will be asking the OB for it.

I will post an update as soon as I can!

Don't worry too much momma (so much easier said). Like so many have said, one draw on a day when numbers can vary so much isn't very telling.

I try not to test more than once because it opens the door to more worry, like is the line darker/lighter, did it take longer to come up positive.

We were in nursing mamas TTC together, so happy to see you here (and socalimom) it feels like home already!

Results are in. HCG = 82. Since the draws were only about 40 or 41 hours apart, that's a less than 48 hour doubling time, which is good.

Progesterone is 7.2. That's not as good. Nurse is talking to OB and will call me back. I mentioned supplementation to nurse, and she said it is a possibility.

Can anyone have their levels checked? This thread is the first I've heard of it but I"ve gone through 2 m/c in the last year and am so nervous, hoping that this bean will stick!

It's just a simple blood test. My doctor does it at the office and sends it to the lab. My previous doctor had me go straight to the lab for the draw.

Finally reached my OB. He recommended a blood draw right away Monday morning and if the progesterone isn't up by then, starting progesterone supplements on Monday. He said he would be willing to give me progesterone supps now if I really wanted them. DH and I discussed it, and we are going to wait until Monday. It's a bit of a gamble, but once I start prog, I have to stay on it for the whole first tri, and I'd rather avoid it if possible. Of course, I'm happy to take it if I need it as of Monday. I feel much better having a plan.

However, the heroics it took to reach my OB are not impressing me and I may be doctor-shopping soon.

Today's results are back in, four days after the last draw. HCG 134 and progesterone 3.3. They are still having me try the prometrium with an HCG draw on Wednesday, but odds are I'm on my way out.

i wouldn't court yourself out yet your hcg is rising and maybe the progesterone will still be able to help.

I agree. I completely understand the concern, but don't give up hope yet.

it's not over till it's over. hang in there. serum progesterone is notoriously difficult to measure. no doubt if it's reading 3 it is low, but it may not be as bad as it sounds. it can vary depending on time of day, what you've eaten, all kinds of things. you might draw it at a different time on the same day and get another 8 or something.
