My midwife is not a proponent for any kind of induction, even natural methods, and she has reasonably convinced me that the baby will come when it's ready...to trust my baby and my body...but this is getting HARD!!!!!! I'm 41+3 and am 1000% ready for birth. I'm even looking forward to pain at this point!

Everyone IRL is giving me all kinds of [thus far unheeded] advice about eating this or drinking that to get things moving. So far all I'm doing is long walks (as long as I can make them) and sex....that's not really cheating/trying to induce is it? ;) ) but will not be getting a sweep or doing accupuncture or anything like that.

Is there anyone else not doing anything to push things along and just trying to wait patiently?

Sigh!

I just wanted to chime in and say I'm not even overdue yet and I'm feeling anxious about meeting this new little love!  Hang in there, the baby WILL come.  :)

I won't be 'technically' overdue until Saturday and I admit to getting more and more anxious as that 'date' approaches! This is my 5th pregnancy and 6th babe and I've never gone overdue!

My doc is already talking induction--more for convenience than any reason. I live 120 mi round trip to the hospital and he feels like it would be better to schedule and make it than not. I'm not ready to go there yet! I feel like he'll be here any day now.

Yep, always over and always letting it take whatever course it will....However, for some reason this babe ( #5) has pushed my patience level.   I am 40 + 4 and that is the earliest I have ever gone (up to 42 wks).  I just feel ready. Swollen, unable to move, pelvic pain...but trying hard to enjoy the end of baby being all mine and "easy" to take care of...it's just, well, time....(plus I like my kiddos to have their own month and so this one has to come in June as we already have a July.  I know weird...).

TRYING to be patient here. I won't be 40 weeks until Sunday, so I'm not "overdue" yet, but I've been obsessing a bit over possible signs of imminent birthing. So I'm trying to relax and make plans for fun stuff in the next week as though birthing couldn't possibly get in the way. I don't plan on doing active induction techniques. The only reason I would see maybe needing to is if I start to come close to losing my home birth. But I can even go past 42 weeks and still home birth as long as everything looks good - I just have to consent to closer monitoring at that point. So I don't feel a huge pressure to hurry up and get baby out other than my own feelings of just wanting to be done and hold my baby already!

I'm not due til Saturday either, but DS came at 39+2 so I'm the pregnantest I've ever been, and ready to get the show on the road!  I've done extra yoga and gutter walking and sex, all of which seem like normal, good activity to me, not necessarily "induction techniques" but things that are good to do at this point?  Today will go to the chiropractor one more time, that will be good too.  Baby squirmed and kicked for hours last night, but no real contractions to speak of - I had hoped it was getting into position that was happening, but maybe just particularly enjoyed my dinner or something.

We'll all get there soon!  Within a couple weeks, this place will be crawling with babies.

Gutter walking - is that where you walk with one leg on the curb? I'd like to try that but feel a little silly....!

10 days past my EDD now and nary a sign! Have pretty much given up on the "maybe it'll be today" thoughts though, which is actually helping somewhat. No more getting my hopes up. That and remembering no one stays PG forever!

Yeah, it looks silly, but really rotates the hips independently.  Not only are you walking all lopsided, but you also have to switch directions or sides of the road all the time!  I felt like a dork doing it on our family walk last night, but could feel my hips making space, so kept going.

Ok, I'm in too! I'll try it later today. (I'm only at 40+3 right now, but I figure something benign like that can't hurt.)

I'm really feeling the need to jump ship...and go get an acupuncture treatment tonight.  I have never cared about being over, in fact I usually relish it and the extra time, but I am practically on bed rest.  I am swollen to the hilt, the baby is so low that I literally have to stand up, squat and mosey to take a few steps, and (TMI coming) I developed a killer hemorrhoid yesterday, and to top it all off I can't seem to keep it together emotionally--I'm either yelling at someone or crying about it (my kids think I am crazy at this point). I am 40+5/6days which is not quite the earliest for me (40+4/5days), but I average 9 days over.  I am so torn...thanks for letting me rant.

Still here hanging out.  I'm feeling like I need this baby to be here like yesterday! My mom (who has my older boys!) fell while out camping with them. She's broken her hip and femur in a horrible spiral fracture and some other potential pelvic/back damage. She had surgery this morning and my brother (single, student no kiddos) went and got my kids. He's okay keeping them for a while, but every one is 6 hrs (300ish) miles away from me at  the moment!  If baby hasn't arrived by Monday, I may just take my chances and head out to their side of the state. Take baby stuff and figure I can really deliver anywhere, right!? My dad just does not do well with hospital/illness stuff, and my mom is having 9 of 10 pain that they cannot seem to get under control. I am sitting here at my house all alone....everything done and ready for baby and feels like I am just twiddling my thumbs taking phone updates and feeling helpless.

Having some contractions that are stronger than they have been, but then again I don't think they're really doing anything as I didn't have any change from last week to this week on cervical check and no show/mucus plug or any other exciting signs.

OMG - this is so awful. I'm so sorry for your mom, and for you and your family. I can't even begin to imagine the wrench this is in all of your lives!

Is there anyone else at all who can help your mom out so you can stay where you are? A friend or neighbour? You need looking after yourself at this point!

I'll be thinking of you.

Ended up in labor a few hours after that last post....LOL  So, baby is here. I'm going home tomorrow and heading to my mom's place on Tuesday if for nothing else but a visit and a snuggle for her with the new grand babe. My brother brough my kids to me today so they could meet their bro. They were thrilled with him!

Congrats CrunchyClark!

I'm officially at 40 today, so unless I birth a baby today I will officially be part of this thread. We have a local festival going on in our town and I did try to walk around a lot yesterday, but I don't consider that an induction technique - just something that's good to do anyways. I admit that I was hoping it would get things moving though. I'd love to be in the 5% of people that have due date babies!

My DS was induced, as in medically induced, and it was such a terrible experience (came very close to an unecessary C-section). So I fully intend to allow my LO and my body to be completely ready for birthing. But I am feeling more and more miserable by the second! I feel like a cowgirl moseying around. I'm trying to decide whether or not to go to church today. It would be kind of fun to see the looks on people's faces when I tell them that my due date is today!

I'm 40 weeks and 2 days now...I'm not doing anything crazy, but I am eating pineapple, drinking lots of RRL tea, and doing lots of walking.  We went on a walk down to the park last night and when we got back I had contractions every 20 minutes for about 3 hours...then they went away overnight.  I live in Texas, and it's just so dang hot here I can't walk outside from 7am to 8pm.

i will be 42 wks tomorrow. my midwife is laid back but had me set up a u/s for biophysical of the baby on Friday. i'm so hoping i don't have to go. i told the baby that our last u/s was the last and would hate to be wrong. i feel good. i was overdue with ds and medically induced for low fluid at 41w6d and ended up with a baby who never descended past -1 and a c/s. i am really doing everything possible for a HBAC. i'm seeing a chiro 2x a week, walking, sex, trying to dance this baby down, drinking rrl by the gallon. i may p/u some epo. i feel like i just have to have this baby before Friday. thanks for letting me vent. birthing vibes to all you mama's!

I'm 40 weeks and 4 days...not nearly as far as all of you, but since I am with an OB I'm facing an induction next Monday if nothing happens.  Two nights ago and night before last I had contractions all night 10-20 minutes apart, but I'm having nothing during the day.  We've been doing sex, walking, spicy food, pineapple.  I have an OB appointment tomorrow and I think I'm going to let her strip my membranes.  I did it last time and ended up with my water breaking before I had contractions, but this time I would know to stay home longer before heading in to the hospital.  I don't really want to do it, but if I'm going to get full-out induced next Monday I feel like having her sweep my membranes is worth a shot.  Luckily at least she's not making me get induced exactly one week past my due date, I get a few more days.

I'm 40+1 and seeing an OB tomorrow about induction. I discussed it with my doctor today and she is more than happy to induce me because of PUPPP and a blood condition that I have (when I go into labor they have to prepare specially washed blood in case I hemorrhage. Washing the blood takes about 12 hours my specialist said so they have to know well in advance).

I'm feeling guilty about wanting this induction though. I know logically it is probably the safest for me due to the blood issue, and it would be nice for me because of the PUPPP (i cant sleep or do anything i'm so itchy and swollen, every minute i'm awake is spent trying to get rid of the itch and being angry/miserable), and since it's in the hospital baby would be well monitored but still feeling very very guilty about wanting it. I don't plan on taking an epidural or painkillers during labor if I can help it at least. =/

I'm 40 + 5 and waiting.....No medical interventions just a midwife recommended sonogram to check  fluid levels and fetal monitoring twice a week. I personally would like to forgo that because any intervention and monitoring can lead to further intervention.

Hang in there Mamas!! & post those pics when baby is out!!!!

41+3 here and desperate for baby to come out.....so many factors are working against me I just cannot believe I am waking up every morning still pregnant.  I have fought tooth and nail throughout this whole pregnancy for a VBAC and unless this baby is out by Monday it looks like it wont be happening.   So far tried walks, stairs, castor oil, sex, nipple stimulation, EPO....seriously thinking of 'unweaning' my 2 year old to see if a good nursing session wont bring on proper labour (and not the kind that fizzles out after 2 hours).

I think if I get another email asking me if I have 'had the baby yet' I am going to scream.......

40+3 here too, hanging in there...Baby still feels very high so trying to go for walks & have a little sex when we can, but otherwise I'm not going to start worrying about taking things up a notch myself until 41 weeks. I just don't want to risk out of my free-standing birth center.

Barefoot, my baby was -3 station when I was admitted in labor--5 cm 100% effaced and ctx every 5 mins 90 sec long.  I really don't think he did much, if any moving down until the last 30 minutes of labor when I was complete and stood up from the tub. He had a big head that did NOT want to move down on it's own LOL  The only good thing was that, while I had that late pregnancy pressure, I really didn't get to that bowling ball between the legs can't move stage at the end.

Hugs to all the mamas still waiting! We'll be reading your birth stories before you know it, and you'll be holding those gorgeous babies soon!

I'm 40+2 and my doula goes out of town tomorrow (Friday July 1-Sunday). So I'm hoping for either tonight at dinner or honestly not until after she gets back. I mean, I have two backups from her for this weekend, but I spent the big bucks for her and she knows us, you know? And our hospital is the sort of hospital where you really really want a good doula on your side. I guess we'll just see...

40+5 here. My midwife offered to do an internal exam and/or sweep my membranes at my last appt., which was at 40+3, but I declined. I don't know if I'll feel differently if I'm at my next appt., which will be 41+3. The nice thing is that I don't automatically risk out of my home birth at 42 weeks, but I will have to go for a BPP. That's part of the agreement she has with the OB who oversees her. Personally I think baby will come before then on his/her own. I have started inserting EPO at night, but that's it as far as trying to do anything to move the process along. I keep going back to my hypnobabies scripts when I need a reminder that my baby will come in baby's perfect birthing time when baby is ready.
