I would love to attempt a VBAC with this baby. I had a c-section in March 2007 and a repeat c-section in October 2009. However, I am having trouble finding a place that will do a VBAC that is close to us. Given this will be our fourth baby I'm not sure how I feel about having a hospital two hours away.

I am.  My first two were both natural births but ds2 was stubbornly transverse - shoulder presentation - so we had a c-section.  My last natural birth was 11 years ago, the c-section 7 years ago.  The scary thing for me is that my state only has a 2.5% vbac rate so I don't know how my doctor will treat it.  Her  office says she does them and the hospital says that they have "a lot" of vbacs from her practice so I have my fingers crossed.  No midwives in this area and it is apparently illegal for them to do vbacs in my state.  Would LOVE LOVE LOVE a UC but DH is against it (for now!)  I guess we will just have to see how things go with the doctor's office as we go along.  The hospital we will have to use is 1 hr 15 min away.  Lovely.

I talked to my doctor about it and he said that he really wont know anything until closer to the day. He said that he is hoping for me to go into labor on my own, which would really increase my chances of having a VBAC. They consider my induction with DS a failed one, but he doesn't want to just schedule a csection until he has to. So end result is, hoping for a VBAC, but if I have to be induced we'll go straight to a csection.

I'm not hoping for a vbac ... I WILL HAVE A VBAC!  Speak it into truth ladies!  I'm going to make sure and mention that to my doc on the 21st too! lol (Even though I'm only going to see him for prenatals and have a home birth planned).

I'm another VBAC hopeful! Just hired my midwife today and it feels so great already! I'm so excited! We are planning a home birth. My c-section was a transfer from a birth center due to no progress (9 cm after 3 days but no ctx). Then became pre eclampsic and they found me in kidney failure in the hospital so they took me off the pitocin and did the cesarean. Anyway, hoping for a totally different experience this time!

I'm hoping for a VBAC, no reason why I can't have one.   My midwives are all for it & luckily Morristown hospital does them.  My worst fear with DS was having a C-section, I had to have an emergency one & it all worked out fine (I had a super quick recovery).  I'd rather not have one again, but I'm ok with whatever happens as long as I get another healthy baby.

I'm really wanting a VBAC at home.

At this point I think that the biggest impediment to making that a reality is my own mental/emotional state. Last time I had complete faith in my body, this time I trust my body to do what it needs to do, but not my mind to support it.

I'm not sure that made any sense, lol.

I am in the same boat. My first pregnancy was almost 5 years ago and ended up a c-section due to slow progress. I didn't dilate past 4cm after 10 hours of labor. At that time, I also had no anxiety over the labor or the situation. Since my son was born, I have been dealing with Panic Disorder, so I am afraid that if I try for a VBAC, I am going to scare myself to death.

For those of you who aren't involved already, ICAN is a great resource for cesarean recovery (emotional recovery as well as physical) and VBAC preparation.  There are lots of local chapters, and also a national Yahoo group email list.  You can go to www.ican-online.org to find a local chapter and to yahoo.groups.com to find the ICAN group email list.  I have been involved since my daughter was about 4 months old and have processed a lot of the grief from the c-section as well as learned a lot about VBAC and birth in general.
