I remember getting them pretty early on with my DD, like around 18 weeks or so. I just want to be sure having them earlier on isn't something to be concerned about.

Your uterus is always contracting. You just don't usually feel it. I started feeling contractions with ds3 at around 12-13 weeks. Everything was fine. He wasn't born until 40w1d.

I've been feeling what seem to be contractions occasionally with this pg for a couple of weeks now. I'm 12w6d today. Rather than cramping or pain it feels like a hardening and squeezing of my uterus. While having my NT scan Monday the tech was examining my placenta. It looked really large to me so I asked about it. She said the extended looking part was actually my uterus contracting but nothing to worry about. It happens all the time. We got it on u/s. I thought that was pretty cool since I was pretty certain I had felt a contraction while driving to my appointment.

It's definitely something to mention to your HCP about but I think as long as they aren't painful, you aren't bleeding and/or they aren't regular and last for at least 4 hours (I think), you should be fine. Make sure you are getting plenty of fluids because dehydration can contribute to PTL.

This makes me feel better. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow, and started having BH contractions here and there starting last week. I saw my midwife today and forgot to ask her about it. Glad someone else on here did!

Totally getting them here.  Not many, and not regularly, but when I lay in bed at night I will feel on here and there.  And yes, not painful, and yes, feels like my uterus is getting tight.  I remember getting them in the 3rd tri with Jackson.  Maybe earlier but I could say for sure.  I figure second time around things are happening a little sooner... lol.gif

Cheryl, proud mama to Jackson... and a baby on the way!
