A very dear friend of mine is going through a terrible experience. She began hemmorrhaging uncontrollably at 24 weeks, spent 4 weeks in the hospital on bed rest, and finally, at 27.5 weeks, gave birth to a DD via C-section. The baby lived 24 hrs, but was not sufficiently developed (due to placental issues); she died while my friend's DH held and sang to her.

I live several hours away from my friend. How can I best support her and her family? What would you want your friends and family to do for you in this sort of situation? My first reaction was "I want nothing more right now than to be there and hold my dear sister"; that isn't really an option since we live so far away.

Thanks.

I'm so sorry. Losing a baby is so heart-breaking.

There is a good sticky in the Pregnancy and Birth Loss area listing suggestions for friends and family. HTH
