My dad has been in poor health for a long time (heart disease and diabetes) but we just kept telling ourselves he'd be fine. He had his first heart attack 9 years ago and he was still hanging on. On Thursday I got a call from my sister saying that he had been hospitalized with kidney failure. She and her husband drove up to where our parents live (5 hr drive) on Friday and when they saw him on Saturday they said he seemed better after the dialysis. They went home on Sunday and I drove here by myself on Monday (staying with my mom - 1.5 hrs from the hospital where my dad is). We went to see him today and he has gone downhill so quickly. He has tubes every, he's on oxygen...they said he has a bowel obstruction and his digestive system has shut down. I don't understand why this is happening or what it has to do with the kidney failure or anything. But it really doesn't look good. My heart is breaking and I don't understand how I can feel even more pain, but I know I will if he actually does die.
