it was the hardest decision i've ever had to be a part of. we called the vet and arranged for them to come out to the car and administer the stuff to do it, both dh and i were there holding and petting him as he passed.
he was with us for 10 years. he was our first "baby" in fact. buster was his name. he hasn't been eating well the past few days, hasnt been walking well either. last night at 6 pm he had a very long seizure. dh had to go to inservice, and while he was gone he had 2 more small ones. he also peed in the house 3 times yesterday. he has never peed in the house. after his first seizure he seemed confused. throughout the course of the night he went back and forth between seizing and being in an unconscious kind of state. i called the vet this morning and made arrangements. dh took ds to one of the only people not related i would take either of my kids to. he came back and picked up dd, me and buster. we got to the vet's office, dh went in to let them know we were there, he came back out with the vet and a tech to the car and administer the stuff to do it, so that we could be with him when he took his last breath. our appointment time was 11 am. by 11:20 we were on the way to my mother's house to go bury him next to the other pooch that we had, she died in 2003. i will miss him terribly. so will dh and ds, i dont think dd is quite old enough to get it. she keeps looking for him. ds has asked a few questions, and we are answering as honestly as possible, and reminding him that bussie doesnt hurt anymore.
we are going to pick out a tree to plant up at my mom's place soon.
