This family's struggles have so touched my life. My husband and I felt like we knew James after watching him on the old Tech TV. Then, when I saw picture of him slinging his two daughters, I really REALLY liked him. The family seemed like people that would hang out here at MDC or come over for tea sometime.

I was shocked when I heard that him and his family were missing. I kept praying that they would hold on and be found soon. They were traveling after Thanksgiving back home and were somewhere in Oregon. Then, I was so happy when I heard they were found... only later to find out that James was not in the car with Kati and their 4 year old and 7 month old. They had lasted so so so long in the car. I can not fathom being in a car for 9 days with little food and two babies. She was nursing the 7 month old, but when food ran out, she nursed her 4 year old for survival, too. She is such a hero.

My heart broke for Katie and her family when I heard this news.

I was so sad to hear about James, especially after the amazing story of survival by the rest of his family. Maybe because I'm a mama myself now, this story has really touched me....

for the entire family...

I didn't sleep last night. This story has just upset me so much. I don't know why it hit me this hard. I didn't know them. I knew of James from CNET, one of my frequented websites. And I think it hit hard because, seeing the photos of the family, they just looked like an MDC family, you know?

I wish we could take some of the hurt from the family, to lighten the grief. I'm devistated for them. It's such a tragedy.

I cannot get the family out of my head. I cannot even imagine their sadness.
What an amazing family. They continue to be in my prayers and my thoughts.

Hey guys. I just heard on the news how if James would have gone only one mile in the other direction, he would have found a fully-stocked fishing lodge. This really makes me mad! How dare they divulge that information when the poor wife has just lost her husband! Like if had only gone right when he went left... I know I wouldn't want to know that! They are all heartless bast***s and that was completely unnecessary.

I think their story resonates with so many of us because they were such a young, vibrant family. Everytime I think of them I am so terribly sad, and I keep playing the "only if's" back over and over in my mind. I think as mothers/fathers/ wives/husbands we can not imagine life without someone we so deeply love. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the Kim family.
