I'm so sorry. I lost my cousin to suicide in 1995. We were raised very closely and I think about him every day.

Other posters have had really great advice in terms of how to deal with the grief. My best suggestion is to keep talking--here, IRL, whatever you can do.

I'll hold everyone who loves your husband in my prayers.

A good friend of mine killed himself 7 years ago. It's still difficult to deal with. I found groww.org to be a great resource. His mom's website is http://joshinheaven.com/ and I think she has various suicide resources on there.

Much love to you and you son.

Hi Liquesce--

I read another post you made on a different website, but I forget which website. First, my deepest condolences for you loss. Second, your story is extremely similar to the story of one of my closest friends. In the wee early hours of 12/30/2007 (Sunday) he committed suicide by the same means your husband did, but in the family's basement. He is survived by his wife and two beautiful children, both under the age of five. It was a complete and total suprise. He, like your husband, is also from another country. My friend is right now with struggling to get past immigration issues so his family can receive emergency visas to attend the funeral (she did not release his body to his family of origin).

It is just so weird, when I started to read your post I really thought my friend had written it.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that there is someone else out there dealing with a very similar, and equally apalling, tragic, and sad situation. Maybe you two will find each other on one of the message boards. I don't think she does much on-line, but in the coming months she will probably start to.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

I can't offer much advice as I haven't been in your situation but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss.

BIG s for you. I don't have any advice for getting through. This is one of my greatest fears, and I especially worry about my dad now that my mom is gone. We're all here to listen if you need to talk, so please don't hesitate.

Thank you ... I just replied to your thread before noticing you'd already been here. Since you know my husband is an immigrant, I'm guessing you came across me at the Young Widows' Bulletin Board ... even if your friend doesn't come online much, I do recommend it ... with children, it can be nice to find the ears of others who have been there without needing to clear a specifically scheduled meeting time.

And thank you all for your condolences, stories, and resources. It means a lot to me, even if we are all strangers to one another.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost my father-in-law to suicide as well as my ex-boyfriend from college (we had remained distant friends). There is not a grief like it. Like a PP, I took comfort in little things, like making a CD of songs that reminded me of ex-bf, putting together a photo album, and a little shadow box with things that reminded me of him. I also ended up staying close to his good friends, which helped, because they understood.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

I lost my 16 year old daughter to suicide almost 5 years ago.

If you want to talk, I'm here, just a pm away.

Be gentle with yourself.
