Ugh, I'm trying to figure out which Nintendo DS games my 5yo son would like, and it's frustrating -- I've checked out the reviews at Gamespot, but the games aren't rated by age and I don't have time to wade through a bunch of small-print, single-spaced reviews to try to find the recommended age category for each game.

Does anyone know of a website where they list the games with recommended ages easily visible, or can any of you tell me which games your 5yo likes? Thanks.

AMazon reviews help me the most. Usually if there's a reading or other frustration issue, it's in one of the first three reviews.

Ds, 6, loves Mario and Sonic Olympic Games and Lego Batman (there are guns in this, although they don't play a huge role). He has also enjoyed Cooking Mama.

Our fav that works well for 5 year olds is "The New Super Mario Bros". It is like the super mario brothers game that I played years ago as a kid. A bit different now but basically the same.

We have MarioKart for the Wii but I am sure it would be great on the DS as well.

I really think you can't go wrong with any of the Mario games.

MY 4.5 yo loves mario kart on his DS.

My DS is 9 but I limit much of his video games... He loves the mario games. There is a national geographic panda bear game that is neat, an animal planet game, Rubiks Cube (this one is a bit difficult at first), Sonic the Hedgehog, All are favorites. I also just picked up for this xmas the Mario and Browser (sp) game.

Mario Party DS is a lot of fun for kids that age... both my 4YO DD and 6YO DS love that game. The New Super Mario Bros. game is another good one but don't be surprised if you find yourself playing it! My son also loves Lego Indiana Jones and Mario Kart DS. Also check to see if your video rental store rents out DS games. It's a great way to try out a game before buying it.

My dd loves the Charlotte's Web ds game. She's 6 and has no problem playing this on her own. She also likes Nintendogs.

My dd was an early reader, and some of the games she liked at that age required reading. Tamagotchi, Nintendogs and Clubhouse Games were probably her three favorites at that age.

They also have 'carnival games' which is similiar to the Wii version.
