My son, who is 5 (6 in May) is allowed occasional play on two websites:

www.pbskids.com
www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies

Are there others that you would recommend with a similar mix of story telling, games, crafts etc?

Any suggestions welcome.

You have to download the games rather than play on a website but they are free and my 2 (3 & 5) really enjoy them.

The 4 1/2 year old I nanny for loves this - it is focused on phonics and learning to read, but it also has other fun games.

My DS really likes Up To Ten. The "Boowa and Kwala" section is for ages 0-6 and the "Games" section is for ages 6-10. And there are tons and tons of games to choose from -- it's fun!

My son loves the TVO kids and Charlie and Lola websites.

http://www.tvokids.com/
www.charlieandlola.com

Both obviously related to tv (though Charlie and Lola was originally a book series).

Lego has a software module you can install, sorry don't remember the name, but it allows you to build custom things with blocks.

Has he played with the cyberchase games on PBS' website: http://pbskids.org/cyberchase/allgames.html ? Dds always thought those were fun.

Also, not only for the brilliant , Mensa has a neat kids' site called Mensa for Kids that has a lot of fun games some of which are educational and some of which are just fun: http://www.mensaforkids.org/play_template.cfm
