My DD just turned 5, and the other day I noticed that her nipples looked kind of puffy and I could see them poking out a bit in one of her tunic-type dresses. Is this normal development, or reason for concern?

She's large for her age, height- and weight-wise (more like a solid 6 year old), so I don't know if this has to do with her being slightly overweight, or if it's the start of precocious puberty. She eats very healthily and mostly organic, little meat, no hormones, etc. She's just always been a big kid; I was as well.

Has anyone been through this before? I can't stand the thought of her developing this early, and it robbing her of the physical innocence of childhood. Thanks for any thoughts on it.

I don't really know but I think I would have that checked with a pediatrician. I would want to rule out a hormone issue if I were you. I hope it's nothing to worry about, mama!! Check in and let us know.
