What toys do your kids have (or have they had) that stick around and get used for a long time? My kids are 7 and 9 year old boys.

Mine enjoy:

Electric sets

Rainbow Looms

Wood marble sets

Train sets

Real tools

Duct tape

Legos

Any suggestions? I'm thinking ahead to Christmas.

My youngest just turned 3 and my older son is almost six- they like magna tiles, blocks, legos (duplo for the little one) and stuffed animals the most. Puzzles too, the three year old plays with Melissa and Dougs bear dress up puzzle for at least 30 minutes everyday!

The magna tiles are way expensive, but they are played with constantly, all day, all the time in so many different ways. Totally worth it.

What they DON'T play with: Playmobil :( This is super sad for me, since I loved playmobil as a kid and I invested a lot of money buying sets on ebay that they do not play with. Maybe they will once they're older..

So many crafts can be made with duct tape. Both my kids love it.

And MagnaTiles are our absolute favorite.

If you haven't seen it, duct tape comes in probably a hundred different colors, patterns, and widths.

We get duct tape for just about everything! Very popular. I'll check out the Magna Tiles. Are they good for older kids?

My kids don't play with duct tape, since they can't cut it themselves... but they are all about scotch tape. They make little toys out of paper/cardboard and tape and tape stuff to my walls.

Re:Magna Tiles and older kids.. I think they're great for all ages. I even enjoy playing with them sometimes :-) We have the 100 piece set and I am thinking buying one more set since we have all the neighbor kids over to play several times a week and they love the magna tiles too.
