I'm not sure how to post, but here goes. My five year old daughter has discovered herself. Well, she's found out rubbing her bed and sometimes other furniture feels good. Is this normal? Today her 7 year old brother saw her. I'm afraid she might do it at school. I don't know the proper things to say. I don't want to say something to turn her off of sex in the future. Help!
It's totally normal. IMO the best way to handle it is to tell her it's fine to do it but it is a private thing and she should only do it when she is by herself in the bedroom or bathroom.
As for normal - I have distinct memories of such from when I was your daughters age. Some do, some don't I'm sure. All in the spectrum of normal I think. I limited myself to private times and spaces without being told/guided...so that's a great intervention to carry through with, because having it be a source of embarassment wouldn't be much fun for her.
