Ben: oh no! i’m gonna get in trouble.
Lance: it’s ok, it was just an accident.
[lance picks it up, it was only in 3 pieces, and puts it back on the table.]
Ben: but he’ll be mad.
Lance: no he won't.
[rick, Lance’s dad, comes into the kitchen.]
Rick: hi ben.
[rick notices the broken mug on the table.]
Rick: oh.. what happened?
[ben says nothing]
Lance: ben knocked over the mug on accident.
Rick: ok. let me get the mop.
Well handled, I think.
For stuff like broken cups, I usually add that I break them, too. Things break, accidents happen to grown ups and kids alike. The important thing for me is that it gets cleaned up, or, in the case of a broken glass an adult is called in to clean it up so no shards are left.
