We work all day, we work all night
We never learned to read or write
We’re happy-hearted roustabouts

We don’t know when we get our pay
And when we do, we throw our pay away
(When we get our pay, we throw our money all away)
We get our pay when children say
With happy hearts, "It’s circus day today"
(Then we get our pay, just watching kids on circus day)

Swing that sledge! Sing that song!
Work and laugh the whole night long
You happy-hearted roustabouts!

Big top roundin’ into shape
Keep on working!
Stop that shirking!
Grab that rope, you hairy ape!

I started a thread about this a while back...basically, I thought the movie was not OK for dd to watch and dh disagreed. He also rented Pocahontas and said the movie "deals with racism."

Thanks for posting that Greaseball. Makes it painfully clear why some would have issues with that movie.

I haven't watched Dumbo since I was a child and I'm embarrassed to say I never even considered the issues brought up in this thread. I know I won't let my children watch it now though! I feel bad for my inner child that was subjected to these messages

ITA!
Is there a website devoted to Disney or other children's movies that talks about the messages in them? I would really like to read up on any movie before I let dd watch them.

thanks,
Kelly
