this weekend has been full of fun stuff.. ive been trying to really do the cool exciting halloween activities with elwynn because he is soo into the whole thing (not by my doing either) he has been batman now for about 3 weeks.. i secretly hope that he will go away after halloween because i miss my elwynn! we went to a halloween party at our UU church and then a "great pumpkin patch" thing at a local preschool where the kids had a pumpkin hunt and a bunch of other exciting stuff outside in the beautiful fallness. i think the best part was watching all of the kids try to break open this awsome pinaita with a plastic baseball bat.. i swear all of the parents were peeing their pants laughing (or trying not to laugh) at them. it was too cute. the woman in charge had to practically get hit every time trying to get the bat away from over excited kids (2 hits.. come on!@)

we carved pumpkins tonight and tomorow elwynn best friend is coming to trick-or-treat (and im going to let him eat candy ::)

i hope you all have a lovely day whetever you do or do not eat and or celebrate!

We are going to go trick or treating too. All the locals go to the community hall (across the street), and bring their candy to give away (cause everyone lives so far apart, country) there will be a bonfire, and hot choco, and hot dogs. I don't think we'll do the hot dogs, but the rest sounds like fun. Haeven is going to be a princess, of course. samaya will be a giraffe.

we will eat our candy as well

some how K still is somewhat sheltered from main stream halloween. She knows all about it, but somehow she is removed from it. I don't even know what we'll do tonight- i think it depends on how awake she is. (she woke up for awhile at 2am and then woke up for good at 6) so she might be pretty beat today. We also see a cranial sacral specialist, so that can always open things up. we've been going to local halloween festtivies over the past couple weeks- hay rides, pumpkin patches, ect and so on. We were out of town last weekend so missed some cool stuff. i guess i am just not a big holiday person. Its not that i don't think that holidays are cool, but society has to fuck stuff up and sensationalize everything so much that i guess it makes me turn away from that and just keep things simple and in their origins.
Anyway, the "plan" is to do what we've been doing the past few years- dress up and give our candy to kids who come to our door. maybe next year we'll do the door to door thing, or have gotten in w/ the cool unschooling families and go to a samhain party.

i'm actually too ...... whats the word... just beat, to do much of a ritual tonight/today for samhain. i am a bad pagan.
maybe we'll do a simple circle later.

we do halloween big here. our neighborhood closes streets and kids from around the city come for the parade. we usually have a potluck party outside in our yard so kids can eat real food them we march up to the parade. GA can't really eat the candy anyway since she is allergic to dairy and red dye #40 but she likes to collect it anyway.

We'll be going trick or treating if ds is feeling ok. Most of the candy that he gets will just be given out to the kids that come to our door. heh heh. Recycle.

I did buy single serving bags of animal cookies and didn't realize that they were iced/frosted. I was going to give those out but.... Ds had a trial packet and threw up everywhere. So, I won't be giving those out in case there is something wrong with them. That was my last $4 and now I can't buy any candy to give out. Doh

I wish ds would barf in a bowl. I mean, ok...I'm not going to make him run to the bathroom but can't he barf into the bowl that is right in front of him? No, he has to turn away from it and vomit all over the carpet instead. Joy. And then I move him to the kitchen (no carpet) and then he barfs all over himself. Ack.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! my fuse has been really short with dh lately. in fact, I just yelled at him for not wiping ds's butt enough : I 've been surprised because in the past my hormones really blissed me out, but not this time! :

I spent two entire days with my DH dredding his *long* hair (I will put a pic on the yahoo group soon), so after that I was ready for a break from him, lol. I am feeling better now. I am fighting off this cold that the kids have, so I think that has a lot to do with my bitchiness. It doesn't excuse DH's laziness, but at least I have a "reason" to have an attitude, right? :P

We spent Halloween Day carving our pumpkins, and they all turned out really awesome. Then we roasted the pumpkin seeds. We went trick-or-treating in the closest neighborhood to our house. Went up two streets and that was it. Once the kids' buckets got heavy they were ready to go home, which was fine with me! J and Z were afraid of all the scary-masked folks, so that was kind of rough for them. Z was Sherrif Woody from Toy Story, J was a princess of some sort (she was going to be a ballerina but the tutu was too itchy, then she was going to be a unicorn but she didn't like wearing the hood of the costume, so we just put on a frilly pink dress and called it a day , C was a cat, and K wore a Renaissance-type dress. DH wore his camoflouged hunting outfit (he does NOT hunt, he wears it for paint ball-ing ) and I was Mother Earth with a flowing patchwork dress and a crown of ivy and berries.

I think I carved nearly 50 pumpkins this year! : It's my favorite part.

dc1 was a viking, then a dog, then a cat, then herself. dd2 was a dino, then a dino dressed as a cat, then a dino. I wore my cat ears. The kids kept stealing my tail.

We don't trick-or-treat, but we hand out candy because I hate being a spoilsport. So dc1 handed out candy, she loved it and did a great job. The last trick-or-treaters of the night were scary, like you say Leah. Realistic full-face wolfman masks, the works. Dc ran to the door, opened it, and... *almost* took a step back but didn't. She VERY carefully handed them each candy, never taking a step over the threshold, leaning very precariously. They were very nice, and apologized for scaring her. Then she ran back to the couch and just sat there shaking for a bit. But she was brave the whole time. I am : crazy proud of her. My dc is full of dragonfire.

we had a good halloween too. We went door to door, in our little town. There were only about6 houses that we visited. The rest are jehovahs . Haeven ended up being a Kangaroo, and samaya was a giraffe (those super warm plush kind, cause it's so freakin cold here now) Then we went to the community hall, where they had a huge bonfire, and all the other kids in the community were there.
When we got home I let them eat as much candy as they wanted, and they crashed in front of a movie. and then this morning, they ate candy while I was sleeping, so they are now runing around crazily right now: This is so rare for them because I NEVER buy crappy stuff like that.
trick or treating with sasa was a challenge. She got two candies in her bag, and wanted to just eat them, and not do any more trick or treating. God, she can tantrum, in the dark, in the middle of the road. This was the first time we did this.
All I had for a costume was a bindi decoration on my third eye

they saw some monsters, and were impressed. The kind they usually see, aren't so visible.
