Nannymom- My DD Sara had some major dental work done when she was 3. They used sedation and it worked well. She still likes the dentist and she has had cavities filled with just a little laughing gas now. For her major work (one silver cap and several cavities being filled) the anastesiologist(sp) did a magic trick and she had a shot to relax her, then they took her back and worked on her for what seemed like an hour. I was harder on DH and I than on her I think. The only thing we had a problem with was nausea after. Don't give your kid red jello even tho they think they want it (It doesn't come out of anything!:Puke and now she thinks she is allergic to jello which isn't a bad thing)

I took Niko when he was 2 to the same dentist and it went well also. No cavities but he did scrape off some plaque build up. Nothing on this last visit and Niko just sat on my lap for the visit while Sara was next to us in another chair. We changed Pediatric Dentists before having the work done as I didn't like the way the dentist told us it was going to cost $3500 dollars for Sara's teeth.

Good luck with the visit for your DD

Congrats Jörð!!! Here's some good baby vibes!

Niko had his 3 yr well baby check and he comes in at 29 lbs 9.5 oz and 37.5 in tall. 25% all the way across including body mass so he is pretty well balanced

Here is a recent pic

Oh, Niko is so handsome! Marcos would go crazy over that Thomas shirt.

Congratulations, Jörð!!! That's great. I wish I was there with ya but it's not quite time yet!

Rainy, I hope your DH is better. How sad.

The dentist- I have just discovered that Marcos has at least one cavity. I am horrified and appalled, as Lula and I do not have any, and I somehow thought he would be the same. It looks like his molars have really deep cusps, and they just trap particles that are really hard to brush out.. I had the same issue when I was an older kid, and the dentist put some kind of sealant on top of the adult molars. I guess it worked since I have never had a cavity. I am not at all pleased at the prospect of taking Marcos to the dentist- he has never been, because he has an extreme anxiety when strangers want to touch him. He completely freaks out. He is like a trapped little wild animal, willing to chew off his own foot to get away. There will need to be some serious sedation to get this cavity taken care of.

I'm sorry I have no advice, nannymom. I know I'm going to do some research on the different types of cavity fillers before I go.

So yes, Koalamommy and I had a chicken pox playdate! She drove a long long way, and I hope her kids got good and infected! I'm putting some pictures on Shutterfly now and I'll post them shortly.
