I made homemade play dough today. I used 1 part salt to 2 parts all purpose flour, mixed with water until it was "play dough" consistency (I know there are other recipes, but I wanted to make something quickly so I used this). Does anyone know how I should store it? Should I refrigerate or do you think it will be OK if I don't?

I make this one. I keep it in old playdough containers. It doesn't last long though.

I've made this (with a bit of veg. oil and a dash of creme of tartar) and it has lasted at least 2-3 months. I just keep it in ziplock baggies. Maybe I'd better go check it!

I always just use ziplock bags, but I have read that keeping in the fridge makes it last longer.

I store my play dough in reused plastic containers, such as the ones that Just Tomatoes come in (http://www.justtomatoes.com/OJPEAS-P.html). It lasts 3-4 months in these containers. I don't refrigerate it. My dough recipe has powdered alum, cream of tartar, and oil in it...I don't know if that makes a difference.
