Ok Ok i don't really hate black and white, but I hate when people make every picture black and white in order to make them look "artistic", sometimes a picture is just a picture it doesn't have to be a work of art, and making them black and white doesn't make them art in the first place, color can be beautiful too.

I feel the same way. I love GOOD black and white photos, but some pictures belong in color!

I did have one recently that needed to be converted. It was a far-ish away shot of a guy leading a horse. Really nice photo, but the guy was wearing pink pants. Took alot away from the photo. Looks good in b&w.

It depends on the photo. We have both in our house. There's one pic of DS that we had taken that is a close up of him and it's by far my favorite. It's soft and sweet and just makes me want to pinch his cheeks and give him big kisses!

I agree. Some pictures just don't fit the... atmosphere?... of a black/white or sepia shot and belong in colour. It seems all the rage to do it though :\

I hate sepia similarly. Particularly bad, too-bright, orangey sepia.

Oh don't even get me started on sepia , no seriously I think they both have their place but I feel most day to day pictures belong in color, at least some of them should stay in color.

Oh, I know what you mean. B&W and sepia can both be lovely. On the right images, with the right levels. The candid shot of Uncle Jim accidentally shooting milk out his nose at the family Memorial Day picnic stands a very good chance of not being that image.

It depends on the picture.
Not every picture looks good in color. Not every picture looks good in black and white.

My home is decorated in black and white photos, almost exclusively. They're all great images, though.

i love b&w and sepia when it's a nice image, but i hate to see a mediocre image done that way. seems so wanna-be-pretentious and silly!

I don't mind black and white photos. But then I learned photography with a film SLR and processed my own film in the darkroom: no color available at all! I had to take everything in B&W, no choice about it.

Yeah I recently went to Sears for pics and dressed dd in really vibrant pinks and purples. The salesgirl/photographer kept showing me her pics in black and white. I didnt get it at all.

Black and white helps to smooth out imperfections, which is why a lot of people like them. I have ONE picture of myself that I like. In color, you can see the stretch marks on my shoulders and a mark on my cheek. Not to mention the fact that it was 3 in the morning, I wasn't wearing any make-up, and my hair was a mess. In b&w though, none of that is too obvious. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...ja/Photo14.jpg (FYI, I was on the floor in a strapess top and jeans, not naked in bed as my mother seems to believe. )

Body, I've been more than patient. Please make a baby. Please?

sometimes I think B&W takes away from images that have really beautiful colors naturally and I wonder why people choose to do that.

I did actually PAINT a b&w picture once though It looked pretty nice that way, I think.

Actually, black and white is a great means of expression and can be very aesthetic. It just depends on how you use these two colors. When you're using black and white, all elements of art still apply. You can use more black to make a drawing dramatic. I cold list countless examples of master works that only use black and white.
