Silly question... Wanted to know if there is a correct way to cut fabric? If so how? TIA

I'm not sure what you're asking exactly. Usually you put the selvedge edges together which means you are cutting with the grain.

some diaper patterns will tell you which way the stretch of the fabric should go, either from side to side or from front to back. most of the ones i've seen recommend for stretch to go from side to side. HTH!
