Hi I am just about to make my first AIO. I have PUL for the outer which I am going to cover with polar fleece, but for the inner I have hemp/organic cotton french terry. I am thinking of using 1 layer of this and 1 layer of normal towelling for the inner, Which would you use closest to babys bum the orgamic towel or the normal terry towelling, or would 1 layer of the organic towel be suffice... also with the soakers (which I am not going to put in a pocket) would 3 layers of normal terry towelling be best for this or the organic towel or a combination of both.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Mama! Congrats on making your first aio! I personally would put the organic closer to baby's skin, and I would do two layers. I like a 3 layer soaker, and either fabric would be fine - I, again, would use organic next to the baby.

How do you plan to sew the diaper? The reason I ask is, it can be a little tricky to avoid wicking around the edges if the inner part is exposed at all to the outside. I don't know if that makes sense, but here are a few options to help avoid wicking (perhaps you already know this!). Use fold over elastic to bind the whole diaper. Or sew as normal, then use strips of PUL as a binding around the whole diaper. Or make sure you sew in such a way that the PUL rolls in toward the skin, so the natural fabric doesn't peek out at all. There is a tutorial under the diaper making section...

Good luck!
