I have been thinking of purchasing a dollhouse kit to put together and paint myself. I have NEVER done any project like that before, so I am pretty clueless.

What kind of paint is good for wood? Also, since I have young kids in the house, there's always the potential that they will put something in their mouth, so I need something non-toxic. I don't even know where to begin to look, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Happily married for 9 years. 8 year old son, 6 year old daughter, 4 year old daughter, and Baby Girl coming July/August 2015!

Those acrylics look good. So pricey, though. Has anyone used them? I can't find anyone who has-only what look like paid testimonials.

I ordered an unfinished dollhouse from Palumba and the man I spoke with (owner I think) suggested using food coloring. I'm wondering if I could use Easter egg dye, too?

Mama to add 10/05; ds 3/09, and two angels. Expecting my 2nd rainbow baby 2/15!

Everything I've read said food coloring rubs off and stains everything. Unless you varnish over top, but that kind of defeats the whole non-toxic thing.

I was planning to put a beeswax finish on it (per the rest of the convo). Sorry I left that out. We talked through having to put a finish on it and he said this was a non-toxic, all natural, option.

I'd love a link to that site if you have it handy. Beeswax does have to be reapplied. Definitely not a one shot deal.
