DD is going to a Star Wars bday party next Saturday and she wants to dress as Princess Leia. I have a long-sleeved white nightgown with a ruffley neck for her gown and a gold metallic belt. But the cinnamon buns hairdo is stumping me. Any ideas? Thanks.

How much hair does she have?
If she has enough to braid, you can braid yarn in with her hair (extensions!) so that you can have enough to wrap up into buns and bobby pin to her head.

What is her hair like? Not long and braidable, I suppose. That would be too easy!

Could you get cheap yarn and make two long braids. Then spiral them and pin them to a headband?

Those are good ideas! Her hair is just shoulder length, so it will need some extensions. I could do that AND pin them to a headband for extra security. Thanks!

Does she have brown hair?

I went as Leia in college once, and just put my kinda-long hair into two pigtail-buns (in a pigtail, then twisted around and held in place by another ponytailholder), then filled the rest out with brown yarn.

Me+DH+DS1+DS2+Dog=me and a house full of guys, which is really just peachy, thanks.

I was Leia a couple years ago when my DS was dressed as Luke. I made the buns using a pair of dark brown pantyhose and a bag of poly-stuffing (both were things I had around the house. First cut each leg off the pantyhose. Then lightly stuff each leg. Carefully hand sew each leg into a bun. Then sew the buns onto a brown stocking hat or make a quick hat with a brown T-shirt. The effect was great and I got a lot of compliments on what was essentially a free costume made with stuff from around the house.
