I'm making halloween costumes for my best friend's new twins, and I need help figuring out what size to cut the pattern I'm working from.

The babies are in Germany and I'm in the States.  One wears 0-3 months; the other wears 3-6 months.  My McCall's pattern has sizes newborn, small, medium, and large, but doesn't give measurements for the sizes other than head circumfrence.  Her kids have huge heads, so I don't see how that's going to give me a good idea of what size pattern to use.

Is there an easy way to convert 3 mos. to one of these sizes?  Any links or suggestions?

If nothing else, I guess I'll dig out some of DD's infant clothes and lay them over the pattern to try to estimate....

Thanks!!

There are some height and weight estimates on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_standard_clothing_size

Do you have any idea of the babies size other than clothing size?

I have their length--both ~25 inches head to toe.

Hmm, so what size would you end up with based on their head circumference?

Does the pattern have a separate hood/hat part. If so I might make that a size bigger then you make the rest of the outfit if you think they have larger than average heads.

It sounds like holding the pattern pieces against clothing is all you can do really.

Have you found any reviews of the specific pattern. I've found they can be helpful in letting you know if a pattern runs large/small for sizing. Still not that much help in choosing a size though.
