I got my first Dharma dyes the other day. I just got red, blue and yellow to start. The stuff I've done so far turned out DARK. Is this just the colors I picked or can I add more water to make lighter colors? Told you it was dumb, b/c I'm sure adding water would lighten them... but I added water to the red and to the blue and they still look super dark. I keep getting depressing tye dyes. LOL Help me!!

Next time, use the same amount of water, but LESS dye.... for example, I used 1 gallon of water and 1 tsp of blue violet dye and got DARK DARK grape purple. The next batch I used 1/2 tsp of dye and got a medium purple, the next batch I used 1/4 tsp and got light purple and then 1/8 tsp and got lavendar

It is VERY fun to play around with! I have lots of diapers I am dyeing so I can play all I want

Oh, and my amounts above were for garment dyeing, so your water-to-dye ratio would be diff for tye dye

Thank you... I'll try that next time. It is fun...
Another ??? though??? How do you tye dye and get dye to the bottom part without it ending up a brown, muddy mess??? I get this especially with the pie tie, whatever it's called where you twist into a circle and band around the circle to where it looks like slices???

For swirls (what you are calling pie ) stop about 1/2 an inch from the center with each color so you don't get the nasty mud mix. And yes to get lighter colors use the same amount water but less dye hth

Whenever I have dyed the circle way I put the dye in flip top bottles and carefully pour the dye on each "slice"

It's just this guy popping up in odd places handing out wendy's sandwiches and really trying to "sell" wendy's and all. People ask, "Are you with Wendy's?" And he always answers, "Well,... UN-officially". And his wife shows up embarassed and apologizes for him... Probably not the same as seeing it, huh?

p.s.... I know "speller" isn't a word. :LOL just making sure you know that.

Is speller a word? I was being a goof when I used it the first time. :LOL see??? I really need spellcheck. Most of my day is spent talking in 3 and 4 word sentences revolving around eating, playdoh, outside and potty.

Hi ladies,
I have been wondering about spell check too. Sometimes I open word on my computer so I can check my spelling cause I am such a poor speller. Anyway I got a good laugh out of the running comintary.

I just bought some dyes- can't wait to tie.

I just have no idea! heeheehee! I love it!

I have to confess something, twouglyducks...

ready for this??

Every time I glance at your DDDDC, I have to look twice, because I keep reading it as "fairly virgin" and it makes me do a double-take every time!

"Fairly Virgin"....isn't that sorta like "sorta pregnant"?? :

Sorry, I can't help it.....maybe it's some form of dyslexia?

Ladies would you tell me what "Tagged" is?

And Pam, I'm not telling if it was an intentional spelling mistake, I did not notice the word but really know how to spell it, or I don't know how to spell it! xo Amina (one has to preserve some digitny)
