I need some help here. I've got a friend with an egg allergic daughter. They've never gotten to decorate eggs in the traditional way. I was thinking, surely I can come up with a coating for plastic eggs that will allow them to be submerged in dye and colored in the same way a traditional egg would. I'm going to hit the craft store tomorrow and pick up some paints to experiment with, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone has tried this before?

Hmm, I don't have any suggestions for that, but a friend of mine made chalkboard eggs last year that the kids could decorate with chalk. Maybe that can be a back-up plan!

They make wooden egg blanks - they would likely dye using 'traditional' like easter egg dyes (at least somewhat) and/or could get painted with watercolors, glitter glue, etc. also.  There may also be paper-pulp types of egg forms too that may work somewhat (but I'd bet the wooden eggs would work out best).

You could also wooden dye egg stands to match them, going that route.  I know the craft stores I usually go to have both the eggs and stands as blanks.  winky.gif
