I love hand knit and hand crochet items and would love to see pics! I have not yet developed these skills so I live vicariously through you.

Share please!

Ooh, I'm excited to see pictures! I just taught myself to crochet this past month, and am working on a set of dishcloths and, if I can figure it out, a pot holder, to give my very dear friend as a "thanks for being so awesome" gift. I'll edit with pictures in a bit.

Disregard my models...but this is how I have been spending the hours of nursing my newborn...hats and booties!

SweetSilver 10-21-2013 01:04 PM

Haven't started, but I thought I'd shake up my hat-and-mittens routine and challenge myself by making these zombies. I'd love to check back in and post pics of my own.

I actually decided to learn to knit, and worked a bunch of different stitches before I decided to crochet some xmas gifts, an infinity scarf for my sister is complete. Sorry I don't have pics-because I put it away where I won't forget/lose it. I plan on doing more for my mother and grandmother and so on. I love the site/youtube channel new stitch a day. But also I just go through pinterest and try to find stuff that peaks my interest.

I'm working on a glow-in-the-dark scarf for my firstborn, fingerless mitts for me, and a blanket for my youngest. No, I don't have time for this! LOL  I do things the old-fashioned way by bringing along a basket of handwork to social get-togethers/playdates. That way I can actually do my hobby, which I enjoy, and resist fiddling on the smartphone. (I suspect these things are what kept us busy before technology came along ;))

BTW I highly recommend ravlery.com if you want to learn knitting/crochet! It's a fantastic forum for learning and liking projects.

I just got some leather and a puncher so I can make myself a pair of slippers. I have a hat and a cowl to finish first.

So adorable!! Your boy & his gear :D

Angelorum 10-23-2013 08:45 AM

Love the pumpkin set!  Reminds me of when my little guy was born last Oct.

I'm knitting myself a pair of thigh-high stockings.  And yup, I'm kind of crazy :flipped.  I have one finished!

leavesoflaurel 10-23-2013 01:06 PM

beautiful! love the stocking. anyone made good diaper covers?! I am a knitter .::

motherhendoula 10-23-2013 01:10 PM

Oh the stockings are awesome!!!  i had to tell you.... truly - i covet them!!!    :kid

i sew my diaper covers - i made a few 'woolies' when LO was a baby - they did not seem to work very well!  and his thighs grew at an alarming rate - it was hard to keep up!

Angelorum 10-23-2013 06:02 PM

Haven't made diaper covers in a while, but knitted longies were the best for jammie bottoms and over training pants. I made these for ds1 a couple years ago. They held up great, even with lots of use, ds2 should be fitting into them in a few months.

so sweet! did you use a pattern or make it up !?

Angelorum 10-24-2013 05:07 PM

I used the Picky Pants Pattern from Little Turtle Knits.  I highly recommend it.  It's very well written, has tons of options, and is formatted in such a way that makes it easy to knit the different sizes, without having to go to town with a highlighter all over the pages.

UntilForever29 10-24-2013 05:49 PM

Ack! OMG!!!! I LOVE THE KNITTED LONGIES!!!! I wish i was better at knitting...hmmm, i think its time to pick up my needles again!!!

MrsKoehn 10-26-2013 12:24 PM

I want to learn to knit, maybe this winter. I've said that the past three winters though....

I can't post pics mobile, but I am in the throes of crocheting Carlito pattern hats for the nieces and nephews for Christmas. Most need to be finished before Thanksgiving when I'll see that side of the family....

Finished my potholder!

IsaFrench 11-07-2013 06:49 AM

i've crocheted myself a bag last week & just used it today to go to my dance class

IsaFrench 11-12-2013 01:00 AM

in September i knitted some more hats ...

there's a stall holder in my local market who sells these variegated acrylic balls for one euro fifty per ball, i just cannot resist these colors & "had" to knit one of each !

IsaFrench 11-12-2013 01:04 AM

last spring i experimented making hats in both crochet and knitting needles with the same wool

to see how different it would turn out ...

MrsKoehn 11-12-2013 11:49 AM

The difference in knit vs crochet is very interesting!

IsaFrench 11-12-2013 10:10 PM

yes, i like to crochet ... but i found i prefer the look of a knitted hat with these variegated materials ....( i didn't crochet any in September, all knitted)

mamarhu 11-16-2013 09:04 PM

I just started these socks. The yarn is a cotton silk blend that shimmers - the photo doesn't really do it justice. I really posted this just to prove to myself that I could figure out how to post a picture from my Iphone in my post - never tried it before. I must admit, I am rather proud of myself! About the photo bit, more than the socks, I mean. I taught myself to knit last summer, and have never made anything but socks. I just love the different yarns available, wearing fabulous socks, and the calming process of knitting. I wear sandals year 'round, and in winter I love showing off my hand knit socks. Yes, I know this is a major fashion faux pas - my teenage children mock me mercilessly - I flaunt it rebelliously!
