I made a new dipe this morning out of hemp. Yay! I have to say that having a serger would greatly reduce sewing time. I have to turn/topstitch everything, but it's a nice look.

I'm sure this will get moved (have mercy on me!), but I wanted to share it here with my fellow diaperin' mamas.

I decided to make use of my wonderful sewing machine. This was a test dipe using a flannel baby blanket. Didn't want to ruin any of the "good" fabrics on my first try. I can't wait--it turned out so great (getting him to stand still for pics was really difficult! ) it'll be even better in the sherpas and hemp fabrics I have. The wings look a little wonky in the picture, but they are just on him crooked--not crooked IRL.

I don't have a serger or a snap press--it's turned/topstitched and has aplix. But *I* did it!

I love that soft flannel you used. I use to have some of that stuff for Zeke when he was in diapers.

That's a great job! I've tried and tried, but I can't sew a diaper to save my life. My girls have lots of my mistakes though for their dolls :LOL

awww...thanks gals! My dh was so impressed (well, it doesn't take much really :LOL). It is very trim on him, but I reminded him that it was flannel and that it'll be a bit bulkier when I use hemp and a lot bulkier if I use sherpa. I didn't expect much from my first dipe.

I made a lay-in trifold for it out of matching flannel. It actually held in a couple of pees (I put it on him and let him run around coverless.

Looks great! I like how the wings are. I made a pocket diaper today out of some PUL and fleece I had lying around!

I'm totally impressed with the fit. My mom just made the baby a couple dipes and is mailing to me soon. I can't wait to see them!

Lo
I started out using this pattern, but I revamped it to suit my needs.

Thanks everyone! I'm really here! :LOL I can't wait to get started making some with hemp--got a pretty large order of it delivered yesterday. It's washed and ready to go.

oh, I should add that I'm going to make my own pattern after I get the hang of a few diapers. I really prefer sidesnap (or in my case, side aplix--till I get a snap setter or press--I prefer resin snaps, so I'd really rather have a press but I have to make sure I'm serious about sewing dipes first! :LOL)

You did great! I LOVE the Noah's Ark print one. I made two blankets for my first little babe(he is 6.5 now!)out of that fabric. They have snuggled all three of my little ones.

Thanks! I kind of felt bad cutting up the blanket, but I knew it'd make a cute diaper. It's not the most absorbent thing, but the hemp one seems to be doing a heckuva job--Owen's napping in it right now.

Hi... I'm jumping in on this to say how amazing those diapers look!

I have had the honeyboy pattern sitting on my craft table (actually, at this point it's pretty buried) and have been intimidated to start trying diapers and covers (not much of an experienced sewer). I think that the idea of starting off with an old receiving blanket or such will give me the courage to try!!!

Hooray for all you moms who are doing it and encouraging us lurkers!!!
