Hi all,

I started a hat for my dd and now I don't know how to finish it! The pattern I found goes as follows: ch 36, Row 1 - Dc in 3rd ch and in each across, ch 2 and turn. Rows 2 - ?? (however wide hat needs to be) Dc in 2nd ch and in each across (back loops only), ch 2 and turn. Final row - don't ch 2, end leaving 18" tail to sew sides.

Okay, I've done all that with no problem. Here's what I don't get - it's close the hat at the top - make running stitch through last row of Dc, gather.

What does that mean? I have no clue what a "running stitch" is. Any help?

Thanks so much Allison! I was really hoping someone would reply quickly, as it's so frustrating to be close to finishing and hit a snag. *runs off to attempt running stitch*
