i need a lot of no-fray fabric cuz i'm in charge of crafts for an all girls (grade school age) day camp at the end of the month--i hae some no-sew projects to do with them but need fabric asap (we'll be making ponchos, pillows, scarves and maybe blankets)

i know fleece is #1 but i would like a cheaper option if there is one..
the cheapest i can get is close to $7 a meter (dont want to order online cuz i need it in time plus shipping to canada is costly)..

does flannel fray?

thanks in advance

Yes, flannel does fray. Try a knit - it won't fray.

Where are you, where are you looking for your fleece, and how much do you need? There are sources in Canada where you should be able to get it for cheaper than $7/yard. Wazoodle (http://www.wazoodle.com) is running a flash sale and they have some Yukon fleece (great stuff!) on for $25 for a 5-yard piece/bolt. They're in Markham, ON, so regardless of where you are in Canada you should get it before the end of the month.

You can also get micro from Tonitex in Montreal for (I think) $5.50/yard.

I babysit for the fabric supervisor at our walmart. They just got a shipment of fleece in that is marked at $5.50/metre. For kids crafts you do not need the expensive stuff.
