According to the pattern it requires 2 ply.

According to my MIL, that is too fine.

What yarn would work best with the Ribby Wrap, in your opinion, if not the 2 ply?

The yarn that is recommended is the LTK 2-ply farm wool, which is actually a *heavy worsted weight*.

Any worsted weight yarn works well...if not the 2-ply farm wool, Peace Fleece works well too!
